Kyle holds, had to save 2 BPs. He saved these with very well constructed points. Got lucky with a netcord on game point, Fabbiano slapped the ball into the stands in disgust. He may not get a better chance! 3-0 for Kyle, Fabbiano to serve.
What a thoroughly enjoyable start to the day. Good to see Kyles skill set so resilient in such poor conditions, solid first set over powered him in the second. First serve consistent given the conditions, really like the consistency of his second serve reliable depth, deceptive kick. Forehand was brutal in the second. Looking at home on the challenger tour lets hope he consistently goes deep throughout the rest of the summer, may be too early to say but I think the early season experience is paying dividends.
So with Kyle provisionally in the Top 250 ranking now (see Paulisi's comment above), I will re-ask a question that I have raised before. If he makes the cut off for US Open qualies, which seems likely now, should he go or should he keep hitting the Challenger circuit for the rest of the year.
Question of an ignoramus here: do the qualies have a later cut-off date than the main tournament? Main tournament cut-off has already happened, hasn't it?
