I think M.Fish can pose no thread to Andy as he has already been out of competition for a couple of months whereas Andy has got himself more acquainted with the surface

San Jose is -8 GMT (PST)

If they get on at 9.00pm local it will be 5am here...Mad again your bang on

heya guys!! i think andy should win comfortably, and as for playing against james blake..you never know because look what happened in australia..got beaten by robredo when everyone thought he was going to win!!

Agassi and Hanescu have both withdrawn from the main draw. As Andy has moved back up to 60 in this weeks rankings, it makes him the 6th best ranked player in the tournament. If only they'd withdrawn earlier then he would have been seeded!

Whenever I look ahead, Andy loses, but with Robredo out - this could be a nice oppotunity.

It's definately a great opportunity to make the semis now. I can't see anyone in that quarter who Andy can't beat. He could face Phillipoussis in the quarters but unless Mark has an amazing serving day, I'd think Andy would be favourite to win - he's more consistent from the baseline and has more in his repertoire and his great returning game and passing shots could really hurt Mark - Andy's game always matches up well against Taylor Dent and it would be the same v Phillipoussis. A match v Roddick - wouldn't that be fantastic. I reckon Andy would have a great chance aswell.

Apart from the draw in Zagreb, Andy can't really complain too much about his draws in ATP events. In Adelaide and Auckland he was given quite easy opening matches and after that Berdych and Ancic were definately beatable opponents, Andy wasn't able to take his chances.

Karlovic lost in 2 tiebreaks to American qualifier Brian Wilson - a typical Karlovic loss. That guy must have by far the worst baseline game in the top 100 maybe top 200. If he worked on it a bit more, he might become a grand slam contender as his serve is virtually unbreakable at times.

That guy must play 3 times as many tie breaks as anyone else on the tour - nearly unbreakable serve, and weak from the baseline so I suppose it's inevitable really

It's a great time to play Roddick, he seems to be a bit lacking in confidence, and the Davis Cup may have it's effect on him later in the tourney (especially the 5 setter against pavel). I think Murray would have a chance if he served well, like against Ljbucic (sp?) in the first set (he then went downhill sadly). 75% of first serves in against Fish is a good sign, as I think Roddick would pounce on Murrays second serve. Murray seems to be okay at handling big servers, so if he just attacks Roddicks backhand (worst in top 30!) he may pull it off

Forget working on his baseline game, if he didnt have his serve he wouldnt be in the top 500.

He's a piano shifter who is very lucky to have a career in the game, although he is all by all accounts a very nice man, he is so ordinary, serve apart, as to be untrue.
