And a break down in the second.

She's clearly very talented, big forehand and very aggressive - a couple of points here and there and it would be the opposite scoreline. She's got a lot of potential for sure. Needs to work on her backhand and variety. But all very promising!

I watched Gabi's first set and agree with all of your comments - I also thought she showed a good temperament in that she didn't let setbacks get to her and if she develops a bit more power in her ground stokes her aggressive approach will really start to pay off a lot more.

Only three games in but unfortunately Katie has lost all of them. A lot of errors, especially off the backhand. Black really is only keeping the ball in play.

Horror show from Katie B so far.

All three of our girls seem to have big (if erratic) forehands, but their backhands are woeful. Also, Maia's second serve is quite soft.

Black has done little more than get the ball back. Very frustrating to watch as Katie is far better than her on her day

The girls final is a repeat of Roehampton between Jelena Ostapenko and Kristina Schmiedlova. To put Nastya's 6-4 6-3 defeat in round 1 in context only one player this week and one last week (just) have managed to get more games off the Latvian

Jelena Ostapenko started slowly but seemed to go up a couple of gears and was completely dominant by the end, judging from the snatches I saw - winning 2-6 6-3 6-0 for her 12th win in a row
