Thanks David.

Emmanuelle Salas is of course the WR 1106 girl who had a great adult tournament out in Egypt, I think, last year. She had her 16th birthday yesterday.

Shame for Mirabelle but I'd thought Emmanuelle would win it more easily so well done anyway . .

COuldn't help noticing there was another Griekspoor playing - seemingly a younger brother of Scott and Kevin, unless I've got the wrong end of the stick. They've got a conveyor line, that family :)

Joel into the third set btu should win. Gabbi 4-4 in the second

Joel Cannell (GBR) d. (Q) Jules Okala (FRA) 6-2 4-6 6-4
Gabriella Taylor (GBR) d. (Q) Anna Turati (ITA) 6-3 6-4

Maia has just started with a break apiece. Tallon Griekspoor (who has just lost) is indeed brother of Scott and Kevin, and has featured a few times in this section against our players, generally winning.

Maia completes a comfortable win and will have a crack at second seed Ziyue Sun, ranked just outside the top 10. It could be a good time to play the Chinese girl, as I think it is her first match on European clay. The one player left today is Lana Rush, who unfortunately I missed on the drawsheet, and will correct in the top post

Maia Lumsden (GBR) d. (Q) Irene Burillo Escorihuela (ESP) 6-2 6-3

Lana was encouragingly competitive but lost

Anna Iakovleva (RUS) d. Lana Rush (GBR) 7-6(3) 6-4

Boys R2

Benjamn Bonzi (FRA) v (15) Rhett Purcell (GBR)
(5) Petar Conkic (SRB) v Joel Cannell (GBR)

Girls R2

(10) Daria Kruzhkova (RUS) v Gabriella Taylor (GBR)
Emily Smith (GBR) v (5) Anna Kalinskaya (RUS)
Nina Potocnik (SLO) v (12) Freya Christie (GBR)
Maia Lumsden (GBR) v (2) Ziyue Sun (CHN)

Edit: Just to remove Freya's 'non-opponent' now that Potocnik has won the relevant R1 match

Very nice win from Gabi, winning 6-1 7-5

Emily had a tough ask against the fifth seed but lost 1-6 5-7 which is no disgrace. And Rhett unfortunately lost to the French wildcard, with the third 6-1 7-5 score of the day !

No joy for Freya or Joel though in their singles matches.

It always looked a good bet for an upset, but Maia battled well, saving setpoints. Freya will be frustrated as she was a set and 5-3 up Gabi has a tough task to overcome a former top 20 player on her favourite surface.

Boys R2

Benjamn Bonzi (FRA) d. (15) Rhett Purcell (GBR) 6-1 7-5
(5) Petar Conkic (SRB) d. Joel Cannell (GBR) 7-6(5) 6-4

Girls R2

Gabriella Taylor (GBR) d. (10) Daria Kruzhkova (RUS) 6-1 7-5
(5) Anna Kalinskaya (RUS) d. Emily Smith (GBR) 6-1 7-5
Nina Potocnik (SLO) d. (12) Freya Christie (GBR) 3-6 7-5 6-4
Maia Lumsden (GBR) d. (2) Ziyue Sun (CHN) 6-4 7-6(7)

R3

Gabriella Taylor (GBR) v (7) Helen Ploskina (UKR)
(16) Bianca Turati (ITA) v Maia Lumsden (GBR)
