Gee, if Alex's challenger form improves as much as his futures form.... :)
That now takes Alex to at least 113 ranking points on Monday week.
The GB top 10 had been looking very clear until Alex's recent exploits. Now a win in the final will take him to 121 points, ahead of GB No 10, Marcus ( 120 points ) and I think also ahead on tiebreak rules of GB No 9, Ed ( 121 points ).
Well, Alex took 3 sets to beat Rodríguez last week - this week he drops just 3 games against him.
FINAL: (3) Alex Ward WR 417 beat (2) Ricardo Rodríguez (VEN) WR 341 (CH 328 last Jul) by 0 & 3
It's Alex's 4th Futures singles title and 1st since 2012. The win should lift him to around 360 and, as Indiana worked out above, to GB no. 9. He is now 14-3 this year.

Really happy for Alex. I really enjoyed following his progress in challengers and ATP qualies last year and so was gutted when he picked up the injury, but he's really come back raring to go!
Onwards and upwards, looking forward to seeing how the rest of his year goes.
Playing well, no points coming off until June (18 then) and with only 13 counters so plenty of room for new additions, the nest month is looking really rosy for Alex and a perfect chance to make a significant move up.
Great stuff.
