Thought you might agree with him! But if recent form is going to come into it then don't give wild cards to James Ward or Liam Broady - now would you go along with that?!

Surprised Klein and Marcus left out, disappointed for Ed. No singles one for Em.

Does Ed need one? He should get in direct.

There are still a few spare places.

Wonder if Ed's foot (back?) was a factor ?

Disappointing for Brydan - and rather ridiculous, in my view - smacks of blazer-ish-ness

Pleased about some of the doubles

I think Phil meant a MD wildcard

Which he'd have got last year, being in the top 250

He certainly needs one for the MD, Naomi is outside the top 200 and gets one. Why different for Men's compared to Ladies.

I think the withdrawal was precautionary, so he should be fine.

Do you think they thought that giving him a doubles one was softening the blow?

Note also three wild card play off places listed for the women (as opposed to two for the men and 'to be announced' for the others)

PS And so Freddie and Jonnie are here again?

And Tara certainly seems out of favour....

Possibly, although Smethy got to be a little disappointed. I knew about Jonny and Freddie. I wonder whether they can recreate the magic from a few years back.

The fact that Mahut even needs a WC is absurd. Problem with Wimbledon is the cut off date is before any of the grass court points for this year have had a chance to take effect.

I also get the reluctance to give out too many main draw wild cards, but definitely think they have been way too stingy with qualifying WC's. Realistically I think they should be filling almost all of the QWC's with Brits.

yes, I thought that doubles wildcards would not be given to singles players who basically didn't play doubles???? I've no idea but I thought Kyle barely played doubles????

Hi, 'Numbers', and welcome, and yes, I agree - crank up the quali wildcards

I know, a bit of a bugbear of mine as well.

So there are 3 MD men and 4 MD women to award plus 4 men qualis and 1 women's qualis

The winners this week at Ilkley will get one each if they are not automatic.

I suspect they are still debating over Cav, Tara and Emily over whom to give the main draw, but I suspect all will get something. They are probably waiting for Tara to play this week.

Brydan will surely get one of the wildcards

Has Colin Fleming got in direct in the doubles?
