I'm not sure it's that clear cut, there are a few decent players in that draw that could cause problems
Ema Lazic made a junior final a couple of weeks ago. Olivia Horn put up a decent performance at Gloucester and Georgia and Alannah can be a thorn on their day. Don't write off Eden who has won at this level this year.
I'll be interested to see how some of the 'outsiders' do too - Donia and Lauryn spring to mind.
I'd have thought that Antonova must be a firm favourite too - she lost 6-4 in the third to Jodie a few months ago in the final, ,beating Lauryn and Holly and others on the way. And has done well in quite a few other tournaments this year, making the final in Sweden and then the semis . .
Some interesting results today. Ema Lazic was put out by Lauryn. Donia only lost the third set 7-5 to Antonova (the M, not the E), Anastasia needed three sets, Holly H lost a thrid set TB against the number 2 seed. . . .
Miss D-L has not ventured onto the international stage much in the past (she got two bad draws at these events last year and only collected points for a doubles QF). She is currently the UK number 1 at 18 and under (winning a fairly recent Grade 1 tournie) and number 3 at 16 at under, but also has not ventured into Open tournaments much.
She is also a very good Netball player and is doing well academically so I guess there is the typical priority call between part time international tennis career against getting a good education and playing tennis in the UK when she can. In UK tournaments she has typically lost to the likes of Eden Richardson, but with close score lines.
To Simon's point above what do people know about whether these girls are in school, academies, home schooled etc? Of the girls in this tournament, I think Burrage, Lazic, Baptiste are all at the school down in Dorset linked to West Hants club?
Although the internal British rankings are misleading, based on LTA events, they do sometimes shed light on good players unable or unwilling to compete internationally at the time. At the same time last year Emily Arbuthnott was ranked 1, but with a low ITF ranking, and has subsequently played much more on the ITF circuit so is vying to be our highest ranked '97 in ITF
Regarding the Dorset school, Talbot Heath has been quite dominant in schools tennis in recent years. Apart from those mentioned Eliz Maloney reached a TE14 Category 1 final last week
