Why is Wimbledon centre court a non-starter? Surely it would be difficult for the AELTC to be seen to be so negative towards GB tennis success?

Apparently the air-con has facility to ensure min air temp of 14C - cool but surely not too cold to play tennis?

You can always use lights to help the grass grow beforehand - I've seen these used at Wembley stadium during winter.

I don't see how having 5 matches on centre court in March or 3 days of 15,000 spectators compared to over 35,000 on Wimbledon fortnight is such a big problem??

I'm not sure it would be a good idea anyway. Surely the grass would help the big-serving Americans. And as has already been said, it's the hard-court season - I don't think Andy would be too happy at the idea of 3 days on grass: he usually has problems with a change of surface.

I'm not sure it's fair either.

London gets Wimbledon every year. London gets the Masters. London got the Olympics.

Surely some other city should get the Davis Cup - spread the love and all that :)

How about the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle, 11,000 capacity, hosted a tie before, and oh yes I'm about 4 miles down the road, very handy.

what about braehead arena in glasgow, been used before and they players seem to enjoy it up there. also we dont get any top level tennis in scotland so we deserve our turn!

While I would think it possible to produce a grass court for March it would severely disrupt preparations of Centre Court for the championships and there is simply no way that the AELTC would accept that.

Why not put the tie out to tender? Why not allow tennis clubs up and down the land to pitch for the privilege (and money to be made) of hosting the tie?

I'm sure it does. Subject to capacity, facilities, surface etc.

I agree, but Glasgow has been used on several occasions recently, and 45% of Scotland would prefer there not to be a GB team with Scottish players in it.
