I am club captain at DPLTC yes grass would not normally not be ready but why not produce some grass courts even indoors specifically for the tie and utilise centre court Wimbledon
Playing outdoors in early March is clearly a non starter due to the weather while producing an indoor grass court for a one off tie would be insanely expensive as you would have to hire the venue for weeks if not months in advance. Wimbledon Centre Court is also a non starter as the AELTC would give a polite but firm "no chance in hell" response and surely it would still be pretty cold, even under the roof.

Why is Wimbledon centre court a non-starter? Surely it would be difficult for the AELTC to be seen to be so negative towards GB tennis success?
Apparently the air-con has facility to ensure min air temp of 14C - cool but surely not too cold to play tennis?
You can always use lights to help the grass grow beforehand - I've seen these used at Wembley stadium during winter.
I don't see how having 5 matches on centre court in March or 3 days of 15,000 spectators compared to over 35,000 on Wimbledon fortnight is such a big problem??
I'm not sure it would be a good idea anyway. Surely the grass would help the big-serving Americans. And as has already been said, it's the hard-court season - I don't think Andy would be too happy at the idea of 3 days on grass: he usually has problems with a change of surface.
what about braehead arena in glasgow, been used before and they players seem to enjoy it up there. also we dont get any top level tennis in scotland so we deserve our turn!

While I would think it possible to produce a grass court for March it would severely disrupt preparations of Centre Court for the championships and there is simply no way that the AELTC would accept that.
Why not put the tie out to tender? Why not allow tennis clubs up and down the land to pitch for the privilege (and money to be made) of hosting the tie?

Ever since you guys nearly voted for independence, I'm guessing that your chances of being at the top of the list may have diminished.

I'm sure it does. Subject to capacity, facilities, surface etc.

so what does that matter! The team is 50 per cent Scottish

I agree, but Glasgow has been used on several occasions recently, and 45% of Scotland would prefer there not to be a GB team with Scottish players in it.
