very well done to Andy there. like Beefy (I think) I felt a little concerned about today's match with Isner as he may have wanted to prove a point but thankfully Andy won that first set and never looked back. Well done to all Team GB and Captain Leon bringing out the best in everyone :) :) :)
ps was Kyle there, he wasn't on the team photo at the end unless I missed him ?

South East would be great for me but when the chips are down we really need to have made the most of Andy and the success of the team, there are not too many years left.
Another elite tennis event in a traditional south east venue is not going to do it. At the moment our success is driven by a scot, the next generation being as optimistic as possible hail from Yorkshire and Manchester.
The south east has been resourced to churn out the next generation for decades, Wimbledon is fantastic and will keep the profile high down here. When other opportunities arise they have to be taken on tour, you could have played the Football World Cup in Europe since its inauguration, the early tournaments in South America and more recently North America, Africa the Far East etc...have grown it.
A large venue north of Coventry will allow creation of some cheap seats get a feeling that a really big must see event is coming to town and its tennis.

A little unfair about our Wardy, our native Londoner, Oakland :)
Although I know what you mean . . . Oliver Golding's retirement has left a major hole in the south-east's contribution to the pool of promising male tennis players.

yep, as a Lancastrian by birth I would certainly go for Manchester or even across the border to Yorkshire
but to be honest I don't really mind where it is but would prefer it not to be down south
edit: nothing against the south as I've lived here most of my life but it has a lot of tournaments already :)

I can see many of the arguments about location. Just so long as we don't ( say because of surface, size of crowd etc ) compromise our chances of winning.
In other news, the unrecognisable reigning champions are out. Goffin's back recovered enough for him to beat Bossel in straight sets to clinch victory for Belgium over Switzerland.
And over in the Argentina vs Brazil clash, Mayer and Sousa are 12-11 on serve in the final set, having already obliterated the match time of these lightweights Ward and Isner of two days ago.
James' g
heroics on friday made this tie alot more comfortable so a big thank you to him for a berth in the quarter finals. I know andy did the job but ward is surely the number two who we have been searching for in this competition
Great performance by the British team, can't wait for the QF already.
Shame about the damnably poor crowd with their inane chanting. The widespread derision they've received is largely deserved. Let's hope we have more imaginative crowd members for the next round.
