RE: Davis Cup 2015 - World Group Round 1 - 6-8 Mar

That was one of the best matches I've seen for a long time.
Wardy always looked the better player, but for the net chord in the 1st set TB I am sure he would have won it, his game didn't drop as it often has but the direction of travel just changed.
He always looked good on his serves, and when he got Isner in a rally he was pretty much always looking like he would win the point.
I can't believe his standard didn't drop after missing the first few MPs, credit to him, he never really looked like losing in the final set, but one always worried Isner's ranking would somehow see him through.
If he could bottle that and take it with him on the tour wow where would he end up?

Definitely Dom tomorrow- keep Andy fresh and he's still effective from the sidelines. The Bryan's would probably prefer to play Dom/Jamie M. but with Dom's two wins this year and pretty good form, reckon they stand a pretty good chance. Andy/Jamie would still be underdogs vs. the Bryans so best to keep Andy fresh.

Brilliant match and amazing atmosphere. James showed amazing mental strength throughout the whole match, didn't dip once, despite 5 match points. Andy's encouragement and advice were fantastic. James certainly picked up once Andy came back on court and was able to speak to Leon. If it wasn't picked up on camera, Dan Evans was also present court side for much of the match, sitting on the opposite side of the court to the GB team, in front of spectators.

Exciting time for GB tennis - it was great that wardy flew his coach over for the tie .

Everything was perfect the venue. , the surface , the crowd , the team support And the results that followed .

Don't expect to win the doubles but if  Dom can get a decent performance could stand us in good stead for the 1/4 final when our doubles prowess could be more decisive .

Those 40 (or is it 45) points he gained tonight will help

And a win against Young in a live rubber would be enough to break into the top 100

If can stay fit & healthy and looks in great shape top 100 only a Matter of time and would not surprise me if had 3 top 100 players by end of the year

Would our best doubles pair be favourites to beat France?

As previously discussed on here, I still think there was a strong argument for a bigger venue with the demand that was clearly there so I'm not sure about it being the perfect venue, but it did well.

Other than that I agree :

Surface - tick
Crowd - tick
Team support - tick
Results - tick

Our best doubles pair ( which to me includes Andy even though I wouldn't play him tomorrow ) I think would have a very good chance vs France at home.

Brilliance from James Ward. Completely worth almost losing digits to frostbite as i had to watch the last two hours on my phone on the terrace at Cardiff Arms Park. Cardiff won at the death too! 6th minute on additional time, after keeping the ball alive for over 10 minutes! Two wins at the death = perfect evening!

Pity about the shirt, but if wearing it ensures that Dino maintains his winning habit, I guess I can live with it...! wink

My first experience of Davis Cup tennis yesterday. Absolutely fantastic, we actually had to leave before the final set to get the train (which I had to hold the doors open of for my friend otherwise it was a night in Glasgow!) but despite that I got to see two almost perfect sets of tennis from Andy and to watch James slowly wrestle the match back in to his favour was brilliant.

Only thing I would say is that I wasn't a big fan of the venue, it felt like a leisure centre and the refreshment stall ran out of refreshments after Andys match. Also really wound me up that the crowd were cheering faults and before the point was over! But I suppose you can expect that.

Hopefully we get through as I'll be able to go to the France tie for the full weekend.

Was great to meet philwrig yesterday who I must say was wearing the naughtiest attire I've ever seen, Union Jack waistcoat and trousers.

Also, as a side note, Dom and Jamie practiced for an hour after play finished yesterday so id be amazed if they change things.

You'd better ask James that one, but I doubt he'd want to sell it though.

More seriously, I think he is kit sponsored by Ted Baker, so that may be a good place to start looking.
