Thought they both played great. Very calm play from the server, even under pressure, until that final game when Isner made it 0-40 with a shocking forehand wide.
Fan-bloody-tastic performance! Give the man a medal! I reckon the Dino of old would've caved in at the end of the second set, as I expected would be the case when I logged off at work, little knowing that the match would still be well & truly live when I got home! The DC certainly seems to bring out the best in him now that he's made the second berth his own. Oh that he could regularly translate such heroics to his tournament play!
Astonishing from Wardy, even by his very high DC standards When I saw it was 2-2 in the 5th, I thought I'd take half an hour off to watch it ... little did I know it would be rather longer than that. He always looked the more likely winner in the decider, and needed to win it too, I think - I'd have made him favourite v Young before the tie but if he'd lost today after playing for that long, it might have been much harder on Sunday.
GB haven't beaten USA back to back since 1934/5, when both wins were in the Final/Challenge round.

Phew! I'm knackered after that. I put all my afternoon chores off until this evening. It was nearly 9 o'clock when I got started. Ah well, most of them will have to wait till tomorrow morning - at least there is only one match tomorrow.
So, so happy for James (and the rest of the team as well, of course). Brilliant win. Fan-perishing-tastic.
Ha, Ha, Steven, you did choose to watch the extended culmination of what the Beeb ( so dare doubt it! ) tell us was the longest Davis Cup singles match since TBs were introduced in 1989. Isner does have form in this area!
I loved the match, of course.
But it does further strengthen my belief that all matches ( including Slams and Davis Cup ) should have final set TBs.
