Current weather: 13mph NW, so not particularly windy, so I'm not sure that can be a big reason.

Evo is about as consistent as his inconsistency. Shall we just leave it at that? Very hard to say without actually watching it.

R1:  Michaël Llodra & Nicolas Mahut (FRA/FRA) CR 38 (24+14) vs Robin Haase (NED) & Jonny Marray CR 344 (302+42) bleh
R1:  Feliciano López & Max Mirnyi (ESP/BLR) CR 119 (96+23) vs Treat Huey (PHI) & Dom Inglot CR 53 (28+25) - could've been worse
R1:  (6) Rohan Bopanna & Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi (IND/PAK) CR 29 (13+16) vs Jamie Murray & John Peers (AUS) CR 65 (33+32) bleh
R1:  (PR) Colin Fleming & Ross Hutchins CR 314 (34+280 - + 145! biggrin ) vs (WC) Deiton Baughman & Martin Redlicki (USA/USA) CR 2391 (946+1445) - couldn't have been better! wink

I propose to edit the title of the thread to include "doubles", as we've no one other than Andy in the singles main draw.

Fine re the merge, SC, but there was a bit of a giveaway at the start of the top post on which you amended the title on

I've re-changed the title, so hopefully now it works for everything.

Whoops!  I'd forgotten about him.   I guess I sub-consciously expect him to bow out in the first round...

Well, I suppose if anybody needed a kind draw given the number of points that they need to make up, it was Messrs Fleming and Hutchins ... but did all the other ones really need to be that rough? Ah well ....

No problem, Steven, though I have to admit I didn't really read your first post, yet I was aware that Kedders had a WC...

Incidentally, I hope you realise that "ex-AM" doesn't actually (logically) mean what I presume you think it means... wink

LOL no, it started off as a shorter form of "excluding" to keep the title a bit shorter than it other would be. A bit token, admittedly.

I see Evo would've drawn another qualifier, Bedene in the first round, with the winner to play Pospisil. Another opportunity by the wayside unfortunately

Spectator has noted in another thread (AM - Battle for Top Three) that Del Potro is out of Miami. Does this mean that there is a LL spot with direct entry into R2 and if so, what are the chances of Evo getting that spot ? If this is the case, there is a very enticing match against either Delbonis or (WC) Harrison for the lucky person.

No chance. Evo is 7th in line:

1) Becker - will be in for del Po
2) Lajovic
3) Kamke
4) Estrella
5) Struff
6) Donskoy
7) Evans
(etc)

His only realistic chance is to wait around for a seed with a R1 bye to pull out very late and hope that some of the players above him have left by then. My guess, though, is that he will be one of the first to leave.

Actually of the LLs, I wish they could put in Mr Estrella. Having been alerted to him by Salmon, I'm rather in awe of his recent accomplishments. And just as Mr del Potro always gets huge support from the Latin American contingent in Miami, I suspect there would be a lot of interest in Mr Estrella, too.
