Ben Stride (GBR) d. (LL) Hubert Badenhorst (RSA) 6-2 6-3

Another big ranking jump for both girls - Katie will be close to 120, Maia will be close to top 100

Katie is actually the 9th highest ranked 99er in the rankings at the moment.

Very good ! South Africa has proved very profitable

I'm actually getting even more positive for Katie ( I don't think I've done anything silly ).

Gabi Taylor is currently JWR 111 on 283.75 points.

I make it that Maia will as a minimum move to 302.5 points, currently equivalent to JWR 101.

And Katie as a minimum move to 290 points, currently equivalent to JWR 104.

Some slight worsening of ranking positions for equivalent points is not unlikely, but looking very good.

Best of luck to Maia in her singles final, and may the best pair win the doubles final.

I'd just like to mention that according to the South Africa tournament software website, Katie was the winner. Regardless of the outcome, it appears to have been a tightly contested match. Here's the link. tsa.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/draw.aspx

Interesting and confusing !

The ITF site is still showing Maia as the winner, both on their drawsheet and in their listed results.

It was Maia who won the semis, because she went on to win the Final (a tweet from Iain Bates makes it clear that it definitely was her)

FINAL: (8) Maia Lumsden (GBR) beat (1) Johnnise Renaud (USA) by 4 & 3

Maia won the doubles too so I make it that she now has:

- 260 singles points = 180 now + 100 (G2 singles title) - 20 (current 6th best)
- 295 doubles points = 230 now + 75 (G2 doubles title) - 10 (current 6th best)

That would give her 333.75 points in total, currently good enough for mid-80s, i.e. she will break into the top 100 on Monday and have risen about 100 places in just 2 weeks!

Excellent news.

Nice to see the all junior girls going so well, which has not been the case for a couple of years.
