I might be able to draw some positives come next week, but for now it's just bitter disappointment and dread when looking at the points that Andy is likely to drop in Miami. Gutted, to be fair.
I think mentally Andy hasn't got it I know he has been out for awhile but he looks as though he is struggling in every match. Not the same player since Wimbledon
I think he needs a top-10 win as soon as possible. Something to send a message to other players who will surely be quite confident about their chances at the minute.
I think he's struggling to get to the same zenith he had in Wimbledon, and I don't think that's too surprising. I think he will get there but it's going to take longer than I would like or maybe expected.
He's fit physically, but maybe he's struggling to motivate himself to the level he normally operates at. It'll come.
I do think other players are starting to emerge, Stan is the obvious one so we may so fewer tournaments won by the "big 4" at least out of the slams.
I think Raonic is a good guide to where Andy is still not at.
Raonic has obvious strengths, but limitations, no matter how well he is playing for him, and a truly on song Andy beats him with something to spare, as he did at US Open 2012, but has not on other occasions.
Generally Andy does perform better at Miami, and he will certainly have to.
I managed to rewind tennistv and watch all the match when I had the time. I'm very disappointed that Andy lost, but after yesterday's trainwreck I am at least pleased that he played so much better, though a bit worried by the clutching at the back/hip. I don't know whether the surgery has not worked or if Andy is just still worried that it has not.
I've been saying it for years (along with everybody else!) something must surely be done to improve that second serve. I just don't understand how it can be so much worse than the first serve. Although it shows improvment some of the time, so often it just sits up for the opponent to thump.
Ah well, only 90 points lost this time. On to Miami with fingers very firmly crossed. And in Miami maybe Lendl will cure him of the pathetic dropshot attempts. He didn't try as many today as the last match but when he did it was usually disastrous.
Wawrinka also ' 'bit the dust', going out in 3 sets to Kevin Anderson. When asked if he was injured he replied, refreshingly honestly, 'no just tense and negative' or words to that effect.

At least he's honest. I'm not a Wawrinka fan his body language puts me off
