RE: Weeks 3-4 - Australian Open (men's)

With Stefan Edberg having joined Federer's coaching team, Nadal has said he has no plans to bring a past great on board.

So we will have Lendl, Becker, Edberg and Uncle Toni...

Yes! According to BBC teletext, Andy has the second night match tomorrow - about 9.30 UK time. All I have to do is rearrange most of my tasks and I'll actually be able to watch most of it.

Night match delayed, as heat/rain/lightning play havoc with schedule. Five of the serious contenders in the top half should complete their matches: Nadal, Tsonga and Federer are done; Monfils is on court against Sock; and Murray is the night match. Young and Nishikori are also through. But no one in JMDP's section will have finished, and no one else in Mr Murray's section. Potentially gives quite an advantage to all the main contenders except del Potro (though wouldn't be surprised if his match got stuck on Hisense if Monfils/Sock finishes early enough) ... bit rough on the others.

Andy takes the first set 6-2 - but one of the two was him dropping his own serve with two double faults and a UE. Worryingly, he seems to be having a bit of trouble with his back, and it seems to be affecting his serve. I hope it's just a lack of match fitness. Against a better opponent he might be in trouble.

Rinse and repeat - Andy takes the second set 6-2. It's not a good match to watch: Andy seems to be holding back, and Millot is just plain outclassed even by a Murray playing at well less than 100%.

Had to leave for a while and come back to find Andy down *1-4. Dunno what happened there.

Millot had a medical timeout and it seems to have done wonders for him ...

You have to assume that Murray will find his way through this match but playing like this he has almost no chance against Lopez.

Millot seems to be playing much better and Andy. . . isn't. I suppose the Frenchman has nothing to lose and is just hitting freely.

Andy pulls back to 3-5*. Come on, lad, it's past your bedtime. Make a push and finish it in 3.

Andy takes it 7-5 in the third. From 1-5 to 7-5 - LOL. Never a dull moment with Andy.

From being in danger of losing the 3rd set, Andy reeled off 23 points in a row (!) to win the match:

L64: (4) Andy Murray WR 4 beat (Q) Vincent Millot (FRA) WR 267 (CH 147 in 2011) by 6-2 6-2 7-5

L32: (4) Andy Murray WR 4 v (26) Feliciano López (ESP) WR 27 (CH 15 in 2012)

H2H 7-0, the last 3 in slams (Wimbledon 2011 QF, USO 2011 R3, USO 2012 R3)
