In recent years Andy's schedule has been very focussed on Slams. Some may suggest overso, but one can't really argue with his consistent Slam performances and ultimate success.
I have thought his schedule this year to date very understandable, i.e. I saw it as playing more to get back in the groove.
I have no idea about the particular circumstances surrounding Oeiras.
What in general are Mike Dickson's criticisms ? Suggesting money chasing ?
Dicko is getting a bit of a hammering from the 'Andy can do no wrong' type of fans, which he might deserve if he is just muck-raking, but he may well have a point. It's possible that Andy feels he needs to get the most financially out of being Wimbledon champion in terms of appearance fees, etc, while it's still fresh, which would some extent be understandable if not desirable from a tennis point of view.

Playing a 250 on clay may be a great idea- Andy's never won a tournament on clay and he needs the points (that stem from a modest clay court season last year) so getting some confidence could be a very good thing.
I think it's good he's playing more tournaments, in the past couple of years he's been very precious about the tournaments he's played, which could very easily be explained by his back
Surprisingly Andy hasn't entered any tournaments during the Asian swing apart from the Shanghai Masters. I suspect that if he has a poor US Open he will ask for a wild card into Tokyo or Beijing.
Surely Andy should be looking at Basel and/or Tokyo, at least? Obviously he does have a large potential points gain but he really isn't capitalizing on these at the minute.
Yes, rather surprising. I would have thought he could do with more match time, almost however the US Open goes.
I am thinking more just to help turn his game round, quite apart from his ranking.
He played more earlier in the year ( Rotterdam and Acapulco ) between the US Davis Cup tie and Indian Wells, presumably to help get back in the swing after his back surgery. But since then, apart from the Italy Davis Cup tie and Queens has just played the mandatories.
I think Chris Kermode mentioned that he was going to have a word with Andy about it. I just hope he doesn't go to the other extreme and overdo it.
Steven just re-tweeted this, I can't find any official confirmation - the only mention of it I can find on the internet is from the same source that Steven re-tweeted.

Thanks to a Steven RT for this news. Andy will be playing the ATP 250 in Shenzen and then the ATP 500 in Beijing before the Masters in Shanghai.
Maybe the WTF is on his hitlist after all.
Probably equally looking forwards to Australian Open as well. Andy won't want to be seeded below 8 and have chance of being drawn against Nole, Rafa or Fed in the last 16.
