Max Stewart looks to emulate George Morgan and Josh Sapwell as winners of the under 14 Orange Bowl. Unfortunately Finn Bass is seeded to meet Max in round 3 Qualifying for the under 14s is via a 512 draw (with a few byes admittedly)

Wow my son has played against 2 of the U12's. Funny when you start to see them in events like this!
I know ! My son's obviously a little older than yours because, I'm watching a group of French players on tour today, who all played and trained with my son regularly, trading wins and going off to tournaments together. It's quite bizarre . . .

Max comfortably won the all-Brit battle to maintain his sequence of wins. Next up is an American who benefited from a default (pps) which means I think that his opponent was timed out.
R3
(5) Max Stewart (GBR) d. (17) Finn Bass (GBR) 6-3 6-1
Max through easily in straight sets once again to reach the QF. Hadn't realised this was a 128 draw, so VERY tough to win (everyone has a bad day from time to time, especially when you are 14!), and the #1 seed Ramazotti is now out. Every chance for Max to win with only the #2 seed left above him, and he has yet to play his L16 match. I believe Max now plays one of many #17 seeds....whatever that means!!
There are 32 seeds including 16 #17 seeds, recognising the difficulty in establishing an accurate hierarchy from limited data, since most under 14s stick to tournaments on their own continent. Max played his quarter-final opponent recently on clay in Spain winning reasonably comfortably, but this is on hard. The top seed Ramazzotti is the one who accounted for Max in the Les Petits As semis
R4
(5) Max Stewart (GBR) d. Kento Perera (USA) 6-2 6-3
I referred to Perera's previous match where his opponent was defaulted, assuming this was for non-appearance given no score on the drawsheet. However this wasn't the case, as Colette explains:
"there was drama on another court when No. 17 seed Nicolas Mejia of Colombia was defaulted in his match with Kento Perera of the United States, with Perera leading 6-3, 1-2. I didn't see the progression of point penalities, but according to reports, it was an overrule on a line call that sent Mejia over the edge and he was defaulted. There was then an argument between the two players' coaches that resulted in the police being called, but when the officer arrived, Perera's coach lodged his complaint against Mejia's coach and asked for an escort off the property, and the matter was considered closed."
