It looks as if there will be no british players in the 16s draw this year is this due to the lta funding cuts

Of the 4 Orange Bowl events (the under 12s and under 14s start next week) the under 16s is regarded as the least prestigious. There was 1 Brit last year and 2 the year before, so none isn't much of a surprise.

orangebowltennis.ids-sports.com/Default.aspx has links to live scores, draws etc.

Boys R1 (L64)

Daniel Kerznerman (USA) v Julian Cash (GBR)
Alexander Sendegeya (GBR) v (9) Marcelo Zormann (BRA)

I don't think the cuts kick in until the end of the year.

Some testing matches in round 1 for the three girls here. Izzy and Lana are on court now with contrasting fortunes. Izzy leads 7-5 4-1 against a girl with 2 10K finals (albeit at home in Kazakhstan) whilst Lana trails 1-6 2-3 . Emily plays a girl who has won 3 10K's this year (ranked just outside the top 500)

Girls R1 (L64)

Madison Bourguignon (USA) v Lana Rush (GBR)
Emily Arbuthnott (GBR) v (Q) Valentini Grammatikopoulou (GRE)
(16) Isabelle Wallace (GBR) v Asiya Dair (KAZ)

Julian reports that he had to pull out of his match as he was being sick, (and now couldn't be in a worse mood).

Commiserations, Julian - hope you're feeling better.

That's a good win for Izzy and big points on offer this week.

Another win would put her around top 55 with 8 x95 Girls to come off. That should be enough to get her a top 50 junior ranking.

This will put her to a similar CH as Harriet Dart and from what i've seen they are fairly similar in ability. Katy and Katie were a step above.
