It was nice to see a queue of locals asking for photo's with Dan Evans he has certainly put tennis on the map locally and has given an extra inspiration to many of our top 25 who can see realistically what can be achieved if they can successfully complete the transition to challengers
I had a another quick chat with Evo he said that he was playing a series of 4 challengers in Asia starting in Seoul and was departing from Manchester this evening . He said that coaching with nick weal , and training going very well . Nick weal ( head coaching Lta ) was going well and his fitness coach "speedo" was in attendence at both his training sessions - both coaches looked very happy with his focus . Let's hope Evo can climb into the top 100 in 2014 if continues to focus & train hard I am sure the success story will continue .
A victory over USA would be nice with Evo playing his part Again on the big occasion would not surprise me !
Thanks, I was keen to know how long he'd remain in Asia. I'm hoping for some healthy competition between Dino and Evo for the no. 2 spot, actually. Let's have a race to the top 100, boys.
Speaking of healthy competition, it looks like indiana will beat me to the 10000 post mark. Every day he chips off about 10 posts from the lead that I have.
Physio Smethurst father of GB top 25 Dan Smethurst Is extremely knowledge and it's always nice to get his views & advice .
We both agreed that the LTA's improved bonus scheme is a movement in the right direction
He said your managing MW like a business and it's working isn't it time he started focusing on challengers I replied yes but it's a matter of timing at the right moment in 2014 there will come a time when it's our key focus .
Mr smethurst is right to want our 300-450 players to move up and get used to challengers giving the younger GB lads a chance to build their points and avoid a traffic jam . I sure it will start to happen with the incentive of a £350 bonus for Qualifiymg for challenger main draw .
David rice and Dan smethurst have already made the move and it will be a useful insight into the ease of the transition
We thought the bottom half of the draw was tough, but only Keelan from GB through, unless Jathan springs a suprise, so we should see a all foreign QF in the bottom half.
Top half just reliant on the British 4 in the top quarter in reality.
Can only see Marcus stopping a foreign victory.
Next week may be a bit stronger for GB with the young guns from Israel due to play.
Yes, it's definitely been a : Foreigners 1, UK 0 sort of day . . .

Not asking you to go find out but I'd be interested in hearing Physio Smethurst's opinion about the level and standard of physio in the UK and the possible effects.
I'm sure the NTC/LTA top players have access to the very best but I wonder about the others because, in general, physios are not often used in the UK, certainly not compared to the rest of Europe. Again, in France, for Jo-Public (or a sportsman) your GP will send you off for a course of 10 or 15 physio sessions at the drop of a hat.
Every tendonitis or whatever will be followed by a course of physio sessions. This is free (and even if you choose to pay is not expensive). Because there is such high demand, there is also a huge supply of physios, many specialising in sports physio (even in a smallish town). I've no idea about cost-effectiveness i.e. what government policy should be. But on a practical basis, the instant expertise and ongoing treatment that you get as standard is a great tool in helping to ward off injuries and recover quicker from ones you do pick up.
We all know that George is a very talented player and a junior grand slam winner & he also won a futures title at only 17!!!! I know I always go on about doubles Which is a love of mine but with George's pedigree it would be great to see him find a regular doubles partner .
In saying that if he can recover his former confidence he still has potential in singles and Marcus & myself will not be taking anything for granted tomorrow he's a very dangerous and highly respected opponent .
has he not played quite a lot with lewis burton and had a decent amount of sucess?
hi, just to add my two penny worth- physios have been a major part of the sport science back up in Scotland since we've been involved in tennis, around 14 years now and its been our experience that they are consistently amongst the best professionals we come across. We've had good and bad experiences in every other type of support, but only ever good physios-their training must be universally excellent.
When the budget allows I'm a great supporter of using a physio in a more injury preventative type roll for massage/flexibility etc, a la Andy and the top players but in most cases for players working their way up I guess the physio is generally used when needed for a more rehab type role, though on some GB junior trips a physio has traveled which is always great news for the guys-as ever, its a cost balance thing at the end of the day.

I any other chat with physio smethurst he said its a 3 year undergrad course if no A levels that a bsc( Hons ) degree
He said standard is very high and I can vouch for that as I have used same physiotherapists as the tennis pros and they are
Joshua Paris - defeated our team mate Lewis burton.
Marcus and I felt that he was one to watch for the future definitely talented . Great serve with good variation , passionate and very fired up Potential to progress well I hope the Lta have him in their sights or that he as good funding
Eg George Morgan looked every bit a junior Wimbledon doubles winner and complimented well with Neil Pauffley .
I dont know what happened earlier in the year but George Morgan looking happier & more confident than he did when I last saw him back in the spring in Heraklion , Crete .
A happy George Morgan is a dangerous opponent and Marcus will not be under estimating his opponent ( 1st on 10am weds ) .
