The pole & the Indian guy looked very much a scratch pair where as Dyce & co has clearly been schooled by the famous Doubs coach Euan Mcginn who got GB no1 colin Fleming on track
At first sight, it's been an appalling week for the Brits here - 3 Brits seeded and only 1 match won between them ... and no wins in 8 matches (9 if de Loore serves it out against Sam) for Brits against non-Brits, unless we count Keelan's walkover
But I know what you mean - it's good to see George back in action and seemingly in good form, James getting a couple of wins, some of the others impressing and less one-sided scorelines than I expected in quite a few matches

But I personally thought it fair enough to have a final go for the season at the run of British futures, having had the week off after the Kuwait weeks. It is probably not always clear what is best, strike while the iron is hot in tournaments or take that momentum into training. The players and Gary should clearly be in a better place to judge than us.
Now maybe the Kuwait trip has taken more out of particularly Marcus than expected and if so, with flu symptons on top ( and the two possibly related ), he possibly felt well below his best so his quality dipped. If with that, his intensity and commitment faltered, while possibly a bit unprofessional ( and that's for the guys to discuss ), I find it not totally unexpected.
Marcus has had a very good year. Now possibly the time to call it quits for the season, a little rest and recuperation and then into hard training.
Will be following Marcus with much interest in 2014.
I realise to an extent why some may call it an "appalling week" for Brits, particularly our seeds, but we knew going in that Neil and Tom had clearly been out of form, and Marcus's situation has been discussed.
Maybe we hoped for others to take the baton up more, and there have been a few good signs from some if not really the victories. Good though to see George back and winning. How far he can ultimately go I have real doubts, but he seems a really nice lad and I wish him all the best.
I wouldn't be getting very despondent about this one event. I would think that it had markedly the weakest looking potential of any British futures line-up this year.

I agree, hence the "at first sight" that preceded my "appalling week" comment.
It should also be a timely reminder to the powers that be that hosting 10Ks and not much else looks very good when lots of Brits (including those who maybe should be playing Challengers) play and few overseas players turn up but can quickly unravel (in terms of providing Brits with lots of points) when the better Brits go elsewhere and the odd strong player with an artificially low ranking turns up.
Having said that, Grigelis was pushed quite close by the lower-ranked Griekspoor twin, so maybe he is more vulnerable than we thought.

Not sure about future world domination by the Brits in doubles LOL, but we do have a good crop of existing top doubles players and players coming through.
I was looking at the top 100 ranked doubles players by country and the current top 100 breakdown is :
1. USA 8
2=. Australia, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Poland 6
7=. Austria, Brazil, France, India 5
So yes, we are well placed, and such as hopefully Ross to add again and there is always Andy from these outside the top 100, but there are plenty countries in the mix with currently at least 5 top 100 ranked doubles players.
( we currently have the equal most top 50 ranked doubles players with ourselves, France, Spain and USA on 4 )
