Josh P has won the first set 6-3.

And George Morgan has taken the first set off Marcus 6-4.

(Marcus not feeling great, apparently, but still a bit of a surprise - has he got some aspirins in that tennis bag ?)

George started very well Marcus now showing he is wounded , George is on fire. 3-0 2nd set and arguing with ref - instead of focusing on how gonna get in it - lost this match

Marcus lost 4 and 0. After bad results at Loughborough and here I think we can conclude that this was poor scheduling on Gary's part.

Ah, that's a shame.

Morgan won 6-4 6-0 in the end.

Nice for George to get another win, even if he didn't have to work too hard for it in the end.

Josh Paris up a break 3-2 in the second set

My own gut reaction is that RJA jas a point (although illness is key too).

Marcus came back on a great high from Kuwait, brilliant tour there, big move up the ranks.

Normally, you'd then take that momentum over into a mega training period i.e. use all that positive energy and enthusiasm to really push forward in training and not do another tournament for at least three weeks (unless you were living from hand to mouth and really needed to).

The problem with playing too soon is that it's all a bit of an anti-climax, the expectations are so high and if things go wrong (as here and last week) you risk losing all that momentum and not capitalising on it.

Obviously, I know it's easy with 20/20 hindsight but I feel for Marcus a bit - the weight of the disappointment is so much more when the weight of the expectations is so much higher (and he's not really used to that - it's all been up so far this year).

Hope he feels better enough for the doubles and well done obviously to George.

Good news is George deserves the win ! It's all good for GB tennis

Always honest with my views this will be a time when as a manager  I need to get the balence right .

Gone off to calm down , then it's a pep talk , set out the stall  steady the ship  and get the boys back on course in the doubles !

If I am honest I am not totally unhappy that George won he's a lovely lad and to be honest even with bomb on song he still would have been likely to win this match on today's form - he was outstanding

G played some breath taking tennis has a new coach Leighton at Nottingham who is doing a great job & I am backing him to achieve a new PB ranking next year and top 500 even 300s possible in 2014

Maybe it's time for a rest bomb  played 26 tournaments 72 futures matches this year his body is probably in a state of shell shock  . It's time to take stock of the situation regroup There is  always a silver lining in every cloud .

We have lost a couple of battles but we will still win the war !

Great news for British tennis to hear that George is back, uninjured, new set-up and playing well.

I haven't been really following what he's been up to this year (although, net net, not a lot might be the answer) or his injury status but wouldn't that be nice if he was suddenly breaking through again . . .

(and happy for Keelan, re the w/o, if that's the case, seems a nice guy . . .)

Is Marcus going to withdraw next week at Edgabaston? I assume that would be his last tournament of the year anyway.

Nice to see George and James in a quarter final together (and a guaranteed semi place on offer).

Rather like the 'stars of yesterday' have suddenly started to shine again . . . .

Love the idea of A1 going off to 'calm down' before the pep talk - I know that feeling . . .
