Katy doing much better at 4-4* second set. Lot's of pressure on her opponent's serve too. Note to self - at BP on opponent's serve don't go for a drop shot that bounces twice before it reaches the net..........that's usually my trick, and it doesn;t work!!
In a game Katy needs to win to stay in the match, the first point is called a let just as Katy hits a winning shot. A stray ball from the next court rolled onto her court. She then loses the replayed point.
And it's all over... 6-2 7-6(3). It's all down to Katie now. Katy Dunne showed talent and grit, which is encouraging. Love how quick she is around the court.
Katie B is a break down, got caught out by a couple of rookie mistakes, but that's what experience is all about. Great to see someone her age (only just turned 17?) with a serve that really does damage.
The young girls did well but with Joko retiring, Mandy getting pipped in a third set TB and all three of the above losing, it's not been a great day in GB women's tennis . ..
SF: Jocelyn Rae & Anna Smith WR 1415 v Magda Linette & Tereza Smitkova (POL/CZE) WR 428
SF: (2) Samantha Murray & Jade Windley WR 377 v Cagla Buyukakcay & Pemra Ozgen (TUR/TUR) WR 513
Sam & Jade fought back from *6-9 down in the MTB, and it was really an exceptional match for a 25K QF, some really heavy hitting and punishing rallies from the back of the court.
SF: Magda Linette & Tereza Smitkova (POL/CZE) WR 428 beat Jocelyn Rae & Anna Smith WR 1415 6-4 6-1
Joss & Anna were up 4-1 40-15 with their opponents playing very poorly, at 40-30 Joss had a very easy smash which she didn't put away then Anna missed the follow up smash. After that their opponents started playing 5x better and won 9 games in a row and 11 of the last 12.
Sam & Jade lost the 1st set 3-6, and are 1-0* up in the 2nd.
