RE: Week 39 - ITF ($25K) - Loughborough, UK Hard

Katy is going well - a set up against Bogdan.

We might get a few girls through, but probably not the expected ones....

They came back !!  But not for long.  Tara lost 5 - 7 in the decider and seriously smashed her racquet.

Well Done Katy and Katie, winning against the odds. Brilliant.

Also well done to Jade for getting through to the second round

Came home to find that Tara had lost (wot?) and that Sam had lost (double/triple wot ?) but that Katy had won (wow) and Jade had won (good) and that Georgia had lost by a whisker (shame).

OK, so it's over to the youngsters . . . good luck tomorrow girls . . .

Great to see the 2 youngsters' results. Katie looking very good and I am impressed how Katy has pushed on in the last year.

These wins in themselves should see the girls katapult up the rankings. Hopefully maybe even more to come.

Well done Jade too. Really has been her breakthrough year.

Pity about Tara.

She had a really good first half of the year, particularly in comparison to the last 2 years. Be a real pity if she doesn't really consolidate on this by earning comparatively markedly fewer ranking points in the second half of the year.

Winners on the left:

R1 :

Justyna JEGIOLKA (POL) / Diana MARCINKEVICA (LAT) [1] BYE
Magda LINETTE (POL) / Tereza SMITKOVA (CZE) 6-4 6-1 Anna FITZPATRICK (GBR) / Valeria SAVINYKH (RUS)
Jocelyn RAE (GBR) / Anna SMITH (GBR) 6-4 6-3 Nicole CLERICO (ITA) / Nikola FRANKOVA (CZE) [3]
Sabrina BAMBURAC (GBR) / Malin ULVEFELDT (SWE) 6-3 7-6(5) Karen BARBAT (DEN) / Lucy BROWN (GBR)
Cagla BUYUKAKCAY (TUR) / Pemra OZGEN (TUR) 6-3 2-0 Retired Katie BOULTER (GBR) / Harriet DART (GBR)
Nicola SLATER (GBR) / Melanie SOUTH (GBR) [4] Walkover Viktorija GOLUBIC (SUI) / Angelique VAN DER MEET (NED)
Tereza MARTINCOVA (CZE) / Katerina VANKOVA (CZE) 6-3 6-4 Martina BORECKA (CZE) / Katerina KRAMPEROVA (CZE)
Samantha MURRAY (GBR) / Jade WINDLEY (GBR) [2] BYE

I see that Katie Boulter and Harriet Dart retired (and the retirement is marked next to Katie's name on the ITF livescores - don;t know if that's significative). Hope it's just precautionary or fatigue or maybe just a twinge.
