Boys: Canadian Open Junior Championships - Grade 1 (Week 35)

This traditional warm-up for the US Open has had British success in the recent past, with Marcus Willis on the roll of honour and Liam Broady in last year's final (lost to Nick Kyrgios).  Cameron Norrie is seeded for a rematch with Alexander Zverev in the quarters. Jonny O'Mara's first round opponent has won a home Futures event

R1 (L64)

(8) Cameron Norrie (GBR) bye

Takashi Saito (JPN) v Jonny O'Mara (GBR)

Luke Bambridge (GBR) v Jumpei Jamasaki (JPN)

Just as with the girls last week in their opening North America junior tournament it was a disastrous start for the boys, and Cameron won't find it easy against a strong opponent in his first match

(8) Cameron Norrie (GBR) bye
Takashi Saito (JPN) d. Jonny O'Mara (GBR) 6-1 6-1
Jumpei Jamasaki (JPN) d. Luke Bambridge (GBR) 6-4 7-5

Elias Ymer (SWE) v (8) Cameron Norrie (GBR)

An emphatic win for Cameron over the former world no. 5. Next is the winner of the Canadian F5 Futures, who lost narrowly to Luke last week.

(8) Cameron Norrie (GBR) d. Elias Ymer (SWE) 6-2 6-1

R3

Brayden Schnur (CAN) v (8) Cameron Norrie (GBR)

Cameron plays this evening, around midnight, and might be on a stream somewhere. If successful he won't play Zverev again, as the top seed has just been ousted by Andrey Rublev
