Boys: ITF Petit camp Junior Open, Mauritius - Grade 4 - Week 34

As we're now at the semi-final stage at the G4 event, time to make mention of the exploits of the Ridout brothers and Ben Stride.

 

Charlie Ridout (the younger brother, just turned 16) lost in the quarter finals to the number 3 seed Brandon Laubser (RSA). However, his older brother (age 18) can now try and avenge littl'un's loss:

 

SF :

Robbie RIDOUT (1) v Brandon Laubser (RSA) (3)

Ben STRIDE (2) v Kris VAN WYCK (RSA) (4)

 

The two brothers are also in the SF of the doubles, as is Ben, with playing partner Laubser  . . .

One win and one loss in the single semis:

SF :

Robbie RIDOUT (1) lost to Brandon Laubser (RSA) (3) 6-4 6-1

Ben STRIDE (2) defeated Kris VAN WYCK (RSA) (4) 6-3 6-3


Final : Ben STRIDE (2) v Brandon LAUBSER (RSA) (3)


But a guaranteed winner in the doubles as both teams won their semis:

Brandon LAUBSER (RSA) / Ben STRIDE (GBR) [1] won 6-2 3-6 [12-10] v Cheng-Lin CHANG (TPE) / Hua-Chen YU (TPE)
Charlie RIDOUT (GBR) / Robbie RIDOUT (GBR) [2] won 7-5 7-5 v Joshua CHETTY (RSA) / Andriatokiana RATSIMANDRESY (MAD)

Final : Brandon LAUBSER (RSA) / Ben STRIDE (GBR) [1] v Charlie RIDOUT (GBR) / Robbie RIDOUT (GBR) [2]

Doubles title for the Ridout boys (runner-up title for Ben)

Final:

Charlie RIDOUT (GBR) / Robbie RIDOUT (GBR) [2] defeated Brandon LAUBSER (RSA) / Ben STRIDE (GBR) [1] 7-6(4) 6-4


Well done to all of them and good luck to Ben in his singles final later

Unfortunately, Ben was runner-up in the singles as well as the doubles :
