Great work so far from Bally, must admit when she took such a big break after Wimby I was beginning to doubt her desire to step it up during her comeback, but now 3 very good performances suggest she's very close to playing solid top 100 tennis.

Sticking my neck out this delay could be quite a while.

Bally's win takes her into the final qualifying round here for the 3rd time:

2001-7: Played qualies 5 times - W 1 L 5

2008: FQR - lost to Julie Coin 7-4 in a 3rd set tiebreak

2009: FQR - lost to Anastasia Rodionova 6-3 in the 3rd

2010-11: DA - lost in R2 of the main draw each time

2012: Injured

Her win also means that GB has now had at least one man or woman in the FQR at the US Open for 11 years in a row - 7 years in a row for GB women, for the last 6 of which they have provided the only Brit/s in the FQR.

I'll be shocked if Bally doesn't take out MLDB as she has shown a liking for playing her and seems in top form, we shall see.

Someone has just pointed out to me that Taylor Townsend has tweeted ...

Opps.....sorry about that....Sam was a break down in the Second but fought back and now has a point for 6-6....

Deuce.....Sam serving at 5-6

Dan just held to start his third set....

Oh no....Ad out....mp here.....

Sam lost 4&5....alas....

Good effort and all that....hopefully Bally will make the main draw.
