I think you're both being a little bit too harsh. He is still recovering from an ankle injury, and illness and hadn't played a singles match in nearly a month plus it's a new surface for him and the home courts for his opponent. I'd give him 5/10 because it was disappointing but not the worst he's ever done by a long way.
