Wish mine were grey....more white these days ...............Oh and congratulations and very well done to Jo..hoping she can keep it up and break the top 100.
Partly a ripple effect from Wimbledon, no doubt, but I think Twitter has an effect too in making this kind of stuff much harder to miss.
Some of the BBC tennis people follow me and some of the other people who tweet about this kind of stuff and even those who don't follow any GB tennis fans almost certainly follow the LTA (who admittedly aren't that great at making clear what the significance of wins is in the longer-term scheme of things) and the tennis journos - some of the latter (like Mike Dickson of the Mail) take quite an interest in the Challenger-level Brits. Even those journos who might not seek out information on the lower-ranked Brits are often inclined to make the odd comment (or retweet) when they are alerted by seeing people they follow tweet about these events.
Talking of which, can it really be a coincidence that the best two weeks for Brits outside the top 100 in recent memory have coincided with Neil Harman being away on holiday?

And Jo gets another write up on the BBC website after her big win yesterday. Evo also gets a mention although they seem confused a bit over the battle for GB Nș 2 spot.
Just listened to those interviews on the podcast and I'm glad Fichman came across so well. I saw her play at Wimbledon quals where an elderly spectator was giving her a fair bit of stick for not saying please when asking for a towel from the ballboy. I know manners don't cost anything and all but it's hardly the worse thing anyone's ever done on court, especially during a tense moment in the 3rd set of a pretty important match!
