A very big suprise, but Brigit is very capable of performing at this level. Worried about Mel now, not even qualifying for 25K's. Must be thinking of playing doubles full time or contemplating when she should pack in tennis.
Not that surprised! If the amount of work that Mel "appears" to have done in the last 6 months to improve her general mobility, fitness and endurance is also reflective of quantity & intensity of the work she is doing to improve her game, then she may continue to slowly drift down the rankings.

Just saw the second half of the second set. Mel has indeed trimmed up since I saw her last year, and her movement seems better as a result. However, if the rallies got longer then Brigit had the superior movement and stamina. Their hitting seemed much the same, no clear advantage either way. Maybe Mel hit a few more winners, but then made quite a few more mistakes. She was clearly frustrated with herself and actually got a penalty for say 'For F***s sake'. Brigit seemed composed and even when Mel came back at her towards the end of the second set- which was quite a battle, she held her nerve breathed deeply and at least appeared to stay calm enough to close it out.

Mel was 99 in the World I can never see her returning to that dizzy height or indeed breaking into top 250. She clearly loves tennis but something totally awry
I thought they were playing OK, I mean neither of them were commiting loads of UEs of DFs. I've not seen either of them play before, so I can't tell you how they compare. Fran's movement and ball striking seemed marginally better than Eden's.
Helen - i would be interested to see what your feedback on Sabrina is. It looks like Pippa has the upper hand at the moment, which probabaly justifies my feedback yesterday.

I have seen them play a few times. I thought Fran had potential but last couple of times I saw her she seemed disinterested.
Eden I have thought was better than her ranking obviously wants it badly but whether she can progress higher remains to be seen.

I think Pippa is a a good player not ranked yet. Got through to semi finals in Bournemouth. Saw her in Edin burgh but she had a hard draw.
