Well it surprised me ... and Coric is seeded so I can just about get away with it! You probably know a lot more about the juniors than me (especially the non-Brit ones) though, so no doubt you're right.
Chung has a career high junior rank of 7 and now has a senior rank of 514 after winning a futures a few weeks back.
I hadn't noticed Chung's recent form either, and I normally follows the juniors quite stoutly. Been too caught up by the grass season!
I saw he recorded a few impressive results at just 16 at the back end of last year. Hadn't realised he'd kicked on quite as much as he has though. Just missed out on a seed then I assume? Clearly another one to add to that crop of talented juniors.
To be honest that was a pretty poor performance from Kyle and his reaction at the end indicates that he knows it. Still he git the job done so hopefully he can play a bit better tomorrow.
I thought Kyle was excellent in that 8 game run, but (for him) very average for the rest of the match. Remember he was playing a boy who turned 15 in February.....that's over 3 years younger than Kyle.
What a player this Kozlov looks! He had by far the better courtcraft of the 2 players. Recently Mats Wilander was asked who were the best 2 players in the world and he said Novak and this young boy, who he rated as the best for his age he'd ever seen.
I had to go out at the end of the first set, so I'm pleased to get back and see this result!
Me too! And I had only managed to see half of the first set - it's been a hectic day with district nurses and doctors coming for my husband (he seems ok now!)
Kozlov looked really fantastic in terms of stroke making, and simply beaten in the end by power/stamina of the older player, which is unsurprising. We are going to see a lot more of him in years to come.....
The American guy was at Eastbourne, but for me needs to really develop physically but if he does, watch out.
Kyle to me just looks a little bit jaded, which is understandable after a long period of week in week out tournaments and pressure situations.
Hopefully he will have enough in the tank to get the job done.
