Jonny O'Mara's failure to enter Wimbledon, made him ineligible for a wildcard according to LTA rules, but a compromise has been made and Wimbledon have awarded him a qualifying wildcard along with 5 others. Kyle Edmund and Cameron Norrie make the main draw on ranking, while Luke Bambridge could have made it depending on Special Exempts and late withdrawals - otherwise he will have a main draw wildcard. Other likely candidates for main draw wildcards are Evan Hoyt, Alex Sendegeya, Tom Colautti, Peter Ashley, Samm Butler and Joshua Sapwell, plus maybe Alexander Jhun and Billy Harris

The Q slots include two tough looking ones against Nishioka and second seed Nikola Milojevic

Excellent to see it all turned out well in the end - in fact, if anything qualifying makes it even better than getting a MDWC in the first place would have been

Unusually they drew the main draw last night with slots left for qualifiers - perhaps they judged that qualifying was likely to finish late Friday or possibly on Saturday because of the weather and they need to draw by early Friday evening, because of the Saturday schedule. Cameron continues his run of tricky draws against top seeds (at the French he lost to eventual winner Christian Garin, whilst at Roehampton he played Alexander Zverev, who is in today's final against Nick Kyrgios), while Evan and Samm also have two of the best in the draw (Kyrgios and Quinzi). Kyle is again in Zverev's section, with Nishioka a potentially tricky second round opponent.

Those are, on the whole, truly wretched draws. Given the strength of the field, there aren't many good draws. But it would take some fairly good play by all of ours to get beyond the 2nd round. Think Mr Edmund can do it, and possibly Mr Bambridge. Beyond that, tough to see ... though one can always hope.
Well, Billy Harris only lost in a third set TB against one of the best players in the draw last week. Alex Sendegeya has had some good results recently. Kyle's a 'yes'. Luke is a definite possibility. Tom and Pete have qualifiers (they'll still have plenty of work to do but hey) It's only Evan, Cameron and Samm who are truly in a bad place.

I think that once the qualifiers are placed, it will look better. It won't make the draws easier for those who already know who they are playing, but the overall picture will look better and there will be more potentially winnable matches.
Having said that, ALL matches are winnable - if they aren't, why bother playing !!
