Boys & Girls: Eastbourne under 18 events v USA (week 25)

Along with the main events there are a couple of under 18 challenge events between GB and the US over the next two days with the matches shown on the oop

A girls team of Katy Dunne, Katie Boulter, Harriet Dart and Gabriella Taylor takes on Taylor Townsend (former world no. 1) Louisa Chirico (French Open semifinalist), Alicia Tornado Black and Jamie Loeb in the 37th Maureen Connolly Challenge Trophy

A boys team of Cameron Norrie, Luke Bambridge, Jonny O'Mara and Evan Hoyt take on Stefan Kozlov, Noah Rubin, Spencer Papa and Luca Corinteli in the second LTA Junior Challenge Trophy

Well done to the GB boys - and good luck to the GB girls. (Hard when facing so strong a team)

I think that Rubin and Loeb are the first of the young players to come out of McEnroe's academy, no? Seem to be doing all right for themselves.

The girls lost both doubles to train 1-5 overnight but Katy has just done even better than yesterday, beating former junior no. 1 Taylor Townsend (WTA 333)

The boys won the LTA Junior Challenge Trophy, leading 7-3 with doubles to be played (presumably Evan won)
The US girls won the Maureen Connolly Challenge Trophy, leading 7-3 after the singles (presumably Gabi lost)

The LTA shows the final scores as 7-3 for the boys (presumably the final doubles were not played) and 4-8 for the girls, so they must have won one of the final doubles matches.

That's a number of good wins for Mr Bambridge in the past few weeks, and two very nice wins for Ms Dunne.
