Week 24 - ATP 250 - Queen's Club, London

R2 Andy Murray v Nicolas Mahut

Yet again Andy's first match is against grass specialist Nicolas Mahut, who dumped Andy out last year. . .

I don't think it will happen again, as I'm sure Andy will be very wary this time. On the other hand he will not be match tight after his injury break, so it may not be easy. H2H is 2-1 in Andy's favour, he having won the first 2 meetings in 2007 and 2008 on hard - but Nicolas winning last year's encounter on grass.

The match is third on Centre tomorrow, with the first starting at 11am. Rain permitting blankstare

Wot no interest in this match

Rain meant the match was suspended finally at Andy leading 6-3 2-2. So tomorrow he has to finish this match (second on Centre) then if he wins, play the next match against Matosevic fifth on Centre. Poor Tsonga has to play a possible two full matches tomorrow.

Ain't British Summer wonderful?

Andy won 6-3 7-6(4), picking off Mahut with a couple of passing shots to finish after having to save a few break points throughout the second set.

I am sure Andy will be glad to get that one out of the way.

Fine performance against Matosevic. Looked very, very comfortable.

Andy's qf v Benji Becker is 3rd on Centre, with a start of 12.30pm. Could be about 3.30 - 4 pm? They have never played each other before, though they have practised together in Miami.

I would be disturbed if Andy drops more than 6 games against Becker. The German has had some decent results on grass but he really isn't anything special. If Andy is really focussed this should involves bakery products.

I sincerely hope these aren't famous last words, but with Berd-brain & now del Po out of the other half of the draw, the title's beginning to look like Andy's to lose...

Not a good performance but Andy comes through 6-4, 7-6(3).

I assume you are disturbed, then. He'll have up his focus against Tsonga.

Yes and No. I do think it was very poor of Andy to make such heavy work of beating Becker who really isn't anything special at all but I suppose I should be used to it by now.
