RE: Week 24 - ITF $50k - Nottingham, UK - Grass

Bottle crashed with a double fault on 5-5 in tie break. Still good effort in only losing 7-6 2nd after first set thrashing. I'm more interested to see Lisa and Sams results if they can step up for Wimbledon wild card contention. Think this level is as far as jade will manage.

The third seeds came on strong in the gloaming.
Definitely one that got away.

R1: Nicola Slater & Lisa Whybourn lost to Miki Miyamura & Varatchaya Wongteanchai (JPN/THA) [3] 6-3 5-7 [5-10]
R1: Samantha Murray & Jade Windley defeated Stephanie Dubois & Barbora Zahlavova Strycova (CAN/CZE) 1-6 6-4 [10-7]

R2: Samantha Murray & Jade Windley vs. Julia Glushko & Erika Sema (ISR/JPN) [2]

Naomi to play to a finish tomorrow.

Naomi is playing pretty well against last weeks $75K winner.
She was broken to give Martic 4-5*, but broke back, this despite a lengthy and slightly heated query by Naomi over a line call on her first break point, she regained her composure, took another chance, and it's back on serve.
*5-5

She's done a Wardy and loses the set 7-6 after set points at 6-5

Have you got that line copied to your clipboard to save typing it out? (Along with " xxx should retire" and "xxx has reached their limit and won't progress any further")

Likewise have you got your retorts to my posts the same. Lighten up for goodness sake. And actually a Wardy could refer to Alex Ward who lost after match points to Pella in which case it's different to my earlier post.

I make valid points if you don't like it tough.

Martic wins 7-6(3) 4-6 6-3

A very good effort though against last week's champion, whose last 3 matches were straight sets wins against Czink, Fichman and Pliskova!

I only saw short bits of the match when Naomi appeared to be hitting most of her returns miles out, but she must have played a lot better when I wasn't watching to push the Croat that close!

The encouraging/infuriating thing is that I thought Naomi only played 'quite well' for most of this match and yet still managed to compete so well against last weeks winner. Martic's level was similar to what I saw of her last week.

What it will take to unlock Naomi's potential again is a conundrum, wrapped in a riddle, wrapped in an enigma; one which, sadly, I don't have the answer. But, I desperately hope she finds it.

I hope this is correct (ITF livescores went from not started to the result with nothing in between), a good win if it is:

L32: (WC) Lisa Whybourn WR 262 beat Nudnida Luangnam (THA) WR 216 (CH 195 last month) by 4 & 3 biggrin
L16: (WC) Lisa Whybourn WR 262 v Stéphanie Dubois (CAN) WR 144 (CH 87 in 2012), who thrashed 3rd seed SFG today

I believe that is the right result Lisa did win. Be interesting to see if she went in a run here if she got a Wmby WC. I'd rather give them to Sam and Lisa than Bally and Anne.

Good win for Lisa there.
Hopefully the match with Dubois will be streamed, as I haven't seen Lisa play very often in the last year.

Another good win for the Murray/Windley partnership, taking out Dubois & Zahlavova Strycova. Coming from behind at every stage.
1-6 6-4 [10-7]
