I'm definitely JoKo's good luck charm when I leave after she loses a set, worked a treat again today!

How the hell can the organizers justify not putting the doubles final on centre court?

Um, nobody wants to watch it, maybe?

JoKo winner, Joko UE......JoKo winner, JoKo UE.......JoKo winner, JoKo UE

She's playing well......and badly.....roller-coaster, etc

......and out come the drop shots from the back of the court which land half way to the service line and beg to be hit......PLEASE stop those (see yesterday's post).

Jo is the better player today I believe, but she throws in big UEs at the strangest of moments.....

Jo had chances to break in the second game, couldn't take them, and was then broken in the third game, largely due to some more wayward forehands.
6-3 5-7 1-2*

Edit: comprehension

Well done, girls!   Do they pick up the same number of ranking points as the chaps, i.e. 90, for that terrific win?

That's fabulous. Talk about really capitalising on your opportunities. Well done, Ms Slater. Congratulations to her for her persistence and achievement!

PS: If, for me, there's a particular joy in following this board (apart from the friendly people on it), it's the occasional chance to see someone who has been working for years finally get their breakthrough. Really delightful.

I actually thought JoKo landed some very good drop shots today.

It has to do with the streaming being there as part of the CHallenger event terms, and they are mandated to give prominence to ATP matches at certain times in the week, I think - It's all in the interminably dull Challenger tournament contract rulebook (400 pages).

Anyway, Johanna is now playing her SF.
Pliskova has looked very strong this week in the singles I've seen, and this will be a very tough assignment indeed.
Good luck JoKo.
*0-1

One break a piece. I'm trying to maintain a phlegmatic assessment of affairs.
2-2*

JoKo breaks again and backs it up this time. Playing quite nicely. Pliskova tetchy.
5-3*

A ragged Pliskova service game sees her deservedly boken, and the first set to Johanna.
6-3

Now, JoKo, you are allowed to win the second set at a canter, it's not impolite to do so.
