Yes. Great result. How she managed to get herself 1-4 down final set as the better player will be something to discuss with her coach, but nice run at the end.

I got the impression she kept trying to mix it up but when she did she made errors. If she just hit it hard into open spaces, without aiming for the lines she invariably won the point.
Yes, she can! After the first set I was hoping for a nice easy afternoon, but Johanna's matches have a nasty habit of turning in to these agonising affairs. Let's just get the right result now, shall we? 6-2 5-7 4-4*
Jo has kindly taken over from Katie O'Brien in this respect. Still I'm majorly chuffed for her!
This seems like a very good win for Jo, who I had as second favourite based on what I saw of their R2 matches. Alison has an excellent record on grass for someone yet to break into the top 100, including quarters and semis at Birmingham. Against Tamira Paszek she showed a lot of resilience when the Austrian threatened to overrun her early on with the weight and precision of her ground shots, but she worked very hard to neutralise her weapons, and exploit the fact that she was more comfortable than Paszek in the forecourt. Although the match ended unfortunately on a retirement Tamira's hamstring strain didn't affect her noticeably during the points (she told me afterwards that it was precautionary with Wimbledon in view) and the overall quality on display appeared higher that what I saw of Jo's match with Doi (the first set only) .
