Harriet Dart and Isabelle Wallace are trying to join Katy Dunne and Katie Boulter in the main draw. Isabelle's opponent has played a number of Brits in the last year, losing to Katy, Katie and Jazzi Plews, but beating Harriet.
Katie's task needs no amplification but Katy doesn't have it easy either. Her first round opponent won a $10K tournament earlier in the year, thumping Naomi Broady en route. If successful she is likely to come up against one of the tournament favourites Sara Sorribes Tormo next. Sara has won 3 $10K events in the last year, reached a $25K final, and in her last tournament beat last year's Roland Garros champion, Annika Beck (WTA 62) in the Madrid WTA Premier Mandatory event
For any Star Wars fans out there, I noticed a girl called J Fett lost today in the first round according to the RG website. This is hysterically amusing, of course. But for everyone else, this will mean absolutely nothing, and I apologize to them.
The rocket pack might have come in handy but I suspect that armour would have seriously hindered movement.

Katy just starting, hoping to avoid the early exits suffered by the third and fourth seeds. Third seed Katerina Siniakova lost to Elizaveta Kulichkova, the girl who walked out of the Trofeo Bonfiglio semis - the ITF responding by taking away all her points for the tournament.
