Another 3 set grinding win there. Good stuff, Kyle!

Interestingly the bottom half of the draw is the stuff of nightmares, with all 4 seeded players making it through to the QF: Kyle (5) vs Zverev (4) and Quinzi (6) vs Milojevic (2).

The top half of the draw has been decimated, with only Borna Coric (8) of the 4 players seeded to make the QFs still standing. I'm sure there's still decent talent amongst his rivals, but Borna must fancy his chances of making the final.

Whoever comes through the bottom half MUST be favourite to take the title.

Garin is something of a wild card in that section - professional ranking of #521 saw him just miss out on a seed (oddly had he been ranked just 21 places higher he'd have been seeded about 8 or 9) and made the VDM 2nd round earlier in the year, taking a set off Chardy. Far more accomplished than Coric on the pro tour, and surely the favourite to make the final in that top section.

Kyle's up first thing on court 17 in the singles, then there's a girls' QF and then he's got his doubles on the same court.

With my positive hat on, I'm hoping this will be like the Sharapova match yesterday. One-sided first set, followed by a titanic struggle in the first game of the second set which finally went to the loser of set 1......whereupon little by little that player comes back into the match before taking control.

......better than the negative scenario whereby Kyle continues to be on the receiving end of a complete battering, which still appears to be the case!!

Set 1 may be too much to pull back, but he needs to steady the ship BEFORE set 2 begins.

0 - 5 down. Not like Kyle. Wonder if he is injured?

Not looking too clever at the moment , but remember kyle was in the opposite situation in all of his matches, and the opponent roared back, lets hope for something similar

It isn't looking good, is it. Already a break down in the 2nd at *1-3

From 0-40 down, Kyle wins 5 points in a row to hold for 2-3*

Potential turning point or am I clutching a straws ?

Keep the faith !!

The one-sidedness of this might even suggest something is very wrong. Kyle is going 0-15 or 0-30 down on pretty much every single serve game. His serve isn't outstanding, but it's pretty decent, which suggests perhaps an injury of some kind......or at the very least something which is exposing his serve.

Or perhaps off-day plus Zverev good day.

Held serve for 2-3* but once again from 0-40. He has been multiple break points down in all 3 service games this set, which is extraordinary.
