Ironically, I'd have rated Laura's chances better against a 'better' player, ie more in form. She's (Laura) her own worst enemy, and with all her big scalps in the last year may not play free against Wozniacki.
I'd disagree, Helen. I'd actually say that for Laura, Caroline will still probably motivate her as a "big scalp" ( still a top 10 rankings and indeed race player apart from being a former world no 1 ) and will be a highlighted match. But will come with with the added advantage of being a big scalp recently very out of form.
It is apparently designed by a British contemporary artist, David Nash OBE RA, whose pieces are more usually sculptures. It was unveiled in December last year.
So at least one Brit got a win at RG this year already.

Data I post, opinions I offer, 'facts' I assert, are almost certainly all stupidly wrong.
If Laura plays her best tennis she's very likely to win unless Woz can regain her best form. Laura will play on Monday which is a positive as conditions are likely to be a bit faster then, although I've said it before Woz doesn't like the slow heavy conditions either. Batesy coaching her is a plus although Lucie Ahl is capable of doing a solid job, Sven fingers crossed will be back for round 2.

I hope you're right indiana, we'll see on Sun/Mon. In any case, I'll be happy if Laura plays her a game win or lose. It's when she's making loads of DFs/UEs that I want to tear my hair out.
Hard to see where Wozniacki will be able to hurt Laura if Laura is on song....Radwanska learnt that getting the ball back into play is not enough against Laura when shes ''on''.
Playing Wozniacki means that the only active former number 1 to not have played Laura is Azarenka, with Laura having already played Venus, Jankovic, Serena, Sharapova and Ivanovic as well as the recently retired Clijsters.
It also makes Azarenka, along with Errani, the only current top 10 players Laura wont have faced, with her H2H against the current top 10ers 4-5 (Wins over Kerber, Kvitova, Radwanska and Li Na with losses to Kerber, Stosur, Sharapova x 2 and Serena.
I believe Laura will win, Bally will lose and Heather is anyones guess, but to win under the circumstances would be hugely impressive.
