There are 3 British girls in the main draw (Danielle Konotoptseva lost in qualifying) for this Grade A - extra bonus points being now given to this, the Orange Bowl and Youth Olympics in recognition of the stronger fields compared with other non-Slam Grade As
Isabelle Wallace appears to have the toughest task against a Swiss seed who recently won a 10K event. Katy Dunne and Katie Boulter play tomorrow, with Katie opening up at 8am BST whilst Katy is on 3rd. Live scores should be available at https://tennistouch.net/scoreboard/scoreboard.aspx?TournamentCode=33BD07B9
R1 (L64)
(12) Katy Dunne (GBR) v Deborah Chiesa (ITA)
(10) Karin Kennel (SUI) v Isabelle Wallace (GBR)
Katie Boulter (GBR) v Lilla Barzo (HUN)

Apologies for the glitch in the live score link above, which should be right now (though live scores seems to just mean set or match updates). Katie got a measure of revenge by teaming up with Katy as 6th seeds and beating Barzo plus partner. Izzy plays first tomorrow.
Katy maintains her domination over the Russian and goes on to play a French player, discussed in another recent Italian thread, who thumped the sixth seed today.
R2
(12) Katy Dunne (GBR) d. Ksenia Laskutova (RUS) 6-3 6-1
An excellent tournament for Katy who completes a third comfortable win, and may be one win away from the junior top ten depending on other results. In the quarter-finals she faces a Ukrainian who recently won a G1 event in Spain, having just ousted top seed Antonia Lottner (who was Eleanor Dean's regular doubles partner a while back)
R3
(12) Katy Dunne (GBR) d. Fiona Ferro (FRA) 6-4 6-2
Impressive stuff and a second GA semi, though in a stronger field here than Osaka. Her opponent has won a high percentage of her matches this year, and their match will be the 4th on the main court, with television coverage via local channel SuperTennis. Unfortunately the website stream is blocked to the UK, but there is an outside chance of another stream somewhere.
QF
(12) Katy Dunne (GBR) d. (16) Helen Ploskina (UKR) 2-6 6-4 6-4
SF
(12) Katy Dunne (GBR) v (15) Darya Kasatkina (RUS)
I was trying to find out who the last Brit to do this well here was and failed dismally (I probably should have just asked David) but I see that only 2 British girls (and no British boys) have ever won the singles title here - a certain Virginia Wade in 1963 and Winnie Shaw in 1968, whose married name (Winnie Wooldridge) I vaguely remember hearing some years back.

Not one I knew the answer to immediately, but having looked at drawsheets I discover that although we have had a few quarter-finalists (including Laura Robson) the accolade goes to Martin Lee who reached the final in 1995, losing to Mariano Zabaleta
The other semifinal (earlier on) is between 11th seed Elizaveta Kulichkova and second seed Belinda Bencic - the latter being on a 15 match unbeaten run in juniors this season
