Boys: AEGON Junior International Nottingham (week 1) - Grade 4 (Week 15)

As usual Nottingham hosts 2 weeks of Grade 4s at this time of year. Seven of the top 8 seeds are British, the exception being the youngest of the Griekspoor clan Tallon, whose twin brothers are on the ATP Tour. Top seed is Julian Cash, and Joshua Sapwell makes a welcome return to action as second seed. Max Stewart, who is having an excellent year in the under 14s, gets a wildcard, but has to tackle 5th seed Joshua Paris. Full draw should eventually be found as follows:

First round results are now up. Two top seeds lost - sixth seed Samuel Taylor (to Luke Oakley) and third seed Lewis Roskilly, while Max took a set off Joshua Paris. Joshua Sapwell made a confident return with a 6-0 6-1 scoreline

Second round results are up, with 3 more top 8 seeds out. A rusty Joshua Sapwell was the highest casualty, upset by Sam Price, whilst Ben Stride and Isaac Stoute lost to Kyle Fellows and George Hedley respectively. That leaves just Julian Cash, Joshua Paris and Tallon Griekspoor

The quarter-final line-up is decided. Euan McIntosh upset 4th seed Tallon Griekspoor, but ominously 3 of the 4 French boys in the draw are still in. It would not be the first time that a small group of them have dominated and are now better known - Matthias Bourgue and Lucas Pouille being recent examples.

QF

(1) Julian Cash (GBR) v Corentin Denolly (FRA)
(14) Mandresy Rakotomalala (FRA) v Joel Cannell (GBR)
(5) Joshua Paris (GBR) v (WC) Euan McIntosh (GBR)
George Hedley (GBR) v (13) Joseph Guillin (FRA)

Hehe, surely the French will appreciate the irony that their clean sweep was stopped by a Brit called Mr Paris!
