Jazzi Plews continues her search for her first win of the year, and could have had a much kinder draw than the player who shared 2 finals with Gabi Taylor last autumn. Evan Hoyt is third seed, needing a good run to boost his chances of making Roland Garros. Thomas Colautti has the daunting task of playing the defending champion and world number 14 while Clay Crawford opens his first junior event of the year against the brother of rising WTA player Victoria Larriere
Boys R1 (L32)
(1) Franko Miocic (CRO) v Thomas Colautti (GBR)
(3) Evan Hoyt (GBR) v Ivan Saveljic (MNE)
Clay Crawford (GBR) v Clement Larriere (FRA)
Girls R1 (L32)
Margot Yerolymos (FRA) v (7) Jazzi Plews (GBR)
Vasilisa Aponasenko (RUS) v (Q) Mirabelle Njoze (GBR)
From the outside it appears that, like many before, Jazzi has lost confidence in making the transition from lower grade to higher grade events. All of her wins in G4/3 events were against players outside the top 200, ranked lower than Yerolymos. She is entered for 2 more high grade tournaments in France, so needs the luck of a good draw, and to take advantage of it. Otherwise a temporary drop back to G4s would be advisable I think.

Smooth progress for both, though Clay will have to overcome a stronger Italian next - Donati is ranked inside the ATP top 1000, including a comfortable win over Kyle Edmund last summer.
