RE: Week 15 - ITF $25k - Edgbaston - Hard Indoor

Good stuff by Tara.

Like korriban, in many ways I'd prefer Tara to just concentrste on her upcoming far east tournaments.

But if there is enough concern re Bally ( or any other team member for that matter ) that Tara is now considered a better option ( or a necessary reserve option ) then absolutely fair enough, she should go to Argentina. This year / nexy year, it's just a question of ending up with the best 4 for getting the WIN from these available.

Given Tara's form this year and the fsct that clay vs hard courts is generally not such an issue with the women as the men, I would certainly imagine that she's nect in line.

By the way, I know Tara had to pull out last year, due to injury, from travellng as a 5th member to the group matches in Israel, which she was very disapppinted about. I don't recall her ever being due to travel to Sweden, though maybe I missed something.

The Ninjas shuriken seem blunt and wayward today.

Just noticed 2 things:

1. Tara is the only semifinalist who has not dropped a set so far, so well done to her!

2. on the lta website page about this tournament the doubles draw is labelled the "womens' singles doubles draw".

I like no. 2 - why does 'singles doubles' make me think 'Jamie Murray'? Actually, it's probably more like Boggo when he played doubles with Safin at Queen's and Marat stood at the net like a lemon while the Bogster did all the work.

Actually, I like no. 1 even better

Tara's semi final on at 11am tomorrow. Does anyone actually know why they have scheduled both semis to start on different courts at the same time?? I know it's not uncommon for this sort of scheduling so there must be some reason, but you would think two singles matches plus one doubles could be played sequentially on one court so spectators can see all three matches.

Just as the first rule of scheduling in the US seems to be "the players should be the last to be considered," the first rule of scheduling in the UK seems to be "the fans should be the last to be considered."

The set up is such that there's an overhead viewing balcony, such that 2 courts can be seen quite easily at the same time. Courts 1,2 and 3 are seen from 1 side, 4,5 and 6 from the other side of the balcony.  They were using 1,2 4 and 5 for the tourney, while 3 and 6 were practice courts.

Of course there are no ball boys, or barriers operational which meant you could see across 3 courts fairly easily, however the balls hit onto other courts could disrupt a rally potentially.

The Ninja seems to be no match for the Russian Bych at the moment.

Matron! 0-2 now. Tara just needs to keep her opponent out there as long as possible, keeping it relatively close: surely the Russian's level must drop at some point

And a TennisTalker tweet rewriting what you just tweeted, Steven, less than a minute later!!!  Agggghhhh!!

Let's hope he doesn't start a commentary on how each of the girls is playing, suggesting that one or other is "throwing this away. Very poor!" or equivalent. furious

......and 30 seconds after that post he claims someone else, Jouan, is throwing away a match where there's no streaming.
