RE: Week 15 - ITF $25k - Edgbaston - Hard Indoor

Excellent win for Tara and a guaranteed GB semi finalist

Suprised to see Sam take the first set, but Anne has a break in the second set.

Sam similarly with Naomi seems to be a momentum player and is either brilliant or way off her game. I think she is having a 'brilliant' week

If Anne gets through it will be interesting to see how Tara does against her as a judgement of her progress.

Well done to Sam, but was hoping for Anne to win that one (especially with Fed Cup looming).

For Sam I imagine beating Anne is a pretty big scalp.

It's an upset, especially given Anne seemed to be getting some form back, but she went through large periods of the match barely winning a point. I'm not sure what the wild card was intended to achieve with Fed Cup coming up (unless she wasn't expecting to play, or just wanted to keep a little bit match tight).

With Heather out Anne needs to be getting on the clay ASAP.

An amazing win for Samantha, given that Anne seemed to be in good form and was a break up deep into each set. In a way, a pity with Fed Cup coming up, but wonderful to see Sam back in form.

L16: (Q) Naomi Broady WR 338 lost to Giulia Gatto-Monticone (ITA) WR 308 by 2 & 3
L16: (6) Tara Moore WR 208 beat (Q) Anne Kremer (LUX) WR 745 (CH 18) by 4 & 0
L16: Samantha Murray WR 270 beat (2/WC) Anne Keothavong WR 184 by 4 & 5 biggrinbleh

QF: (6) Tara Moore WR 208 v Samantha Murray WR 270

Samantha won their only previous meeting in an ITF 4 & 5 (Sunderland 2010)

To add a minor bit of spice, a win for Tara would put her either in or right on the fringes of the top 200....

Yes, it'd be close but probably enough. To add more spice, if the Pelham matches go with rankings tonight (hopefully they won't!), the only healthy member of the GB top 6 not picked for Fed Cup will have had a much better week than any of those who have been picked.

As I said yesterday when Sam is good she's very good so not a big upset.
Annie can now concentrate on the Fed Cup.
Tara also looking back to her best but me thinks Sam is just about favourite for the QF.

Very good looking follow-up win for Sam, and hopefully this result is much more to do with her excellence than poor play from Anne. Still, a bit worrying re Anne, since near her best she should still be beating an on-form Sam.

Good to see Tara back in decent form after her different illness issues. Will be an interesting match with Sam, which could be pretty close, but I'll take Tara to win it.

Sam Murray is a good player and for me not a surprise.

With Sam and Tara both doing well one might think they were trying to attract Judy Murray's attention, if not for this year then at least for future years.

In doubles:-
Anna Fitz & Jade took the first set, but wilted 6-1 0-6 [5-10]
Anna Smith - with Bychkova = went down 4-6 4-6

The Ninjas just took the second set to force the MTB against the Turkish duo 3-6 6-4
Doing well in it *3-0

And, despite a wobble as it went to 3-4*, Ninja power prevails
3-6 6-4 [10-4]
