RE: Week 15 - ITF $25k - Edgbaston - Hard Indoor

Very good looking follow-up win for Sam, and hopefully this result is much more to do with her excellence than poor play from Anne. Still, a bit worrying re Anne, since near her best she should still be beating an on-form Sam.

Good to see Tara back in decent form after her different illness issues. Will be an interesting match with Sam, which could be pretty close, but I'll take Tara to win it.

Spot on. The scorelines for both of Sam's matches suggests a return to something approaching late 2012 form, rather than the poor start she's had in 2013. Very pleased that Tara's food poisoning and illness problems look to be a thing of the past, and hopefullly she's back to early 2013 break-out levels. If Tara wins tomorrow, I'd back her to win the whole tournament against all-comers, but tomorrow could be close.

I have minimal confidence in our Fed Cup team, however, who individually and collectively either have VERY patchy form or no competitive matchplay at all. Not sure Judy has much of a Plan B fallback at this point, especially for clay, so let's pray JoKo finds some form this week.

Cryptic comment from Anne: "Don't do something unless you're prepared to do it properly. #muppet"

Could have nothing to do with tennis, but could conceivably imply that she took the WC in order to get a tournament this week but wasn't feeling fully committed to it.

I would have thought that Tara would need one more win to have a fairly.good chance of being top 200.

She is currently WR 208 on 291 points. Replacing her 16th counter of 6 points by her 14 so far here would put her on 299 points, which would just edge her up one place to WR 207 on the current rankings list.

Current WRs 200 / 201 are on 308 / 305 points.

Duh, I can't read. I thought it was being suggested that her win today possibly made Tara top 200.

So, I actually agree with earlier that one further win could do the trick.

Great Job....now win another 25K hopefully to get in French Open. I still think Ann K wasn't whole heartly played her match yesterday.

To add a minor bit of spice, a win for Tara would put her either in or right on the fringes of the top 200....

Furthermore, I think a win for Sam could well see her also achieving a new CH. Already her run this week means that she'll definitely switch places with Lisa again, back to GB #7.

My normal account kept looging me out whenever I tried to post anything hmm I know I talk a lot of rubbish, but a self censoring account!... Switch of browser and temp duplicate account fixed it, and I'll try to deduce the original fault cause later.

Excellent result. 3 straight set wins in a row, and it will take someone playing rather well to upset the apple cart for Tara this week, even if this morning 3 of the top 4 seeds were still in play.

I would love to see her take the title, and think its a good bet, and if that happens I'd be very surprised if Judy wasn't tempted to replace Bally with her in Argentina (although I'd like personally prefer to see Tara rack up more ranking points instead on this form)

Tara may need more matches and practice on clay. Just forget Fed Cup, she is too good on hard court at this moment.

Tara's off for a run of events in the Far East. She was supposed to be a travelling member to Sweden last year but got injured. I imagine if she keeps going she will be in the frame for selection next year, but realistically on clay she's not going to be picked for singles this time round, even if JoKo and Anne don't seem to be in the best form.

Don't get me wrong, I think she can do good on clay too. clay court no need big serve but more footwork. it suits her.

Great win for Tara, thought Sam would be more dangerous than that.
Agree that Tara should just focus on racking up more ranking points and then next year should be considered for FC assuming her form continues in this manner.
