Lucy lost the third set 6-2 after a very promising start
Jade lost the first set 6-2 and currently on serve
Katy lost the first set 6-3 and currently on serve
Sam has just started and broken straight away

Decent looking effort by Katy. At 3-3 in the second set looked as if there was a long game on Gatto-Monticone's serve. Katy does seem to have stepped up over recent momths, but that did look a really tough task.

She will now be ranked purely from WC points, but certainly does look capable of at least accumulating 10K points in the near future.

Excellent and convincing win for Sam there to buck her recent trend. Beltrame may be 33, but her WR123 is well earned and she's no pushover.

Any one that is able to help Sam find her best form more regularly would be doing GB Womens tennis a great service.

Sam wins 6-1 6-3 without facing a break point. That looks a very good win by Sam and hopefully found some real form again.

We need wins from each of Tara, Emily and Anne to get 5/10, which I think was a reasonable minimum target from a pretty balanced draw at home.

I think 5/10 will be excellent, 4 will be OK

Emily is 5-4 down, the experienced kremer serving for the set.

Anne has an early break

Emily 4-6 *0-2 , lost first 8 points of set 2.

I am honestly not really sure 5/10 would be that excellent. To me, quite a few matches that looked as if they could go either way with us highest ranked in 5 of them. I would call 5/10 par and 4/10 below par.

Yes, "below par" in golf is good, but this is tennis LOL. And I meamt it in a more general sense where I would say "below par" indicated not so good, which is certainly what I would consider 4/10 from that set of matches, especially at home.
