You could just about see the pile of rust around his feet.
I had a really weird computer problem late in the second set. I was connected to the tennistv.com stream, and that was working fine, but suddenly I couldn't get any other website. The error message suggested restarting my modem - but I didn't dare to try it, in case I lost the match as well! When I tried it after the match it worked, though.

And there was me thinking you were going to say - "I had a really weird computer problem late in the second set. It was showing Andy winning !!"
Andy's L32 opponent, Lu, won their one previous meeting, 7-6 (5l 6-4, in R1 at the Beijing Olympics. But Andy has said he was less than well prepared for that match.
I would hope to see, and anticipate, Andy winning this meeting in straight sets.
I'm not sure that 3 sets of tennis rather than 2 is such a bad thing after such a long break. And Andy did win 16 of the last 22 games, so he was clearly starting to find a rythmn. I'd rther be in Andy's shoes than Ferrer's at any rate.
Andy shows what a master tactician he is by at 5-2 up with a double break, letting his serve be broken and then breaking again for a 6-3 first set win and then being able to serve first in the second set..
I couldn't stay up for this one (absolutely shattered) Did anyone see it? And if so, was it as comfortable as the scoreline suggests?
I watched most of the first set. Lu attacked, Murray defended. Andy did just about enough to hold serve, under pressure game after game, but coming up with some good shots whenever bp down. Andy broke for *3-2 as errors crept into Lu's game, then another break at 5-3 to take the set. Court appeared to be playing very slow. Lu was impressive at times, some sensational shots, Andy just content to soak up the pressure with an occasional good crosscourt forehand into the space; happened twice when bp down. Far too many Murray groundstrokes landed short with not enough on them and were dispatched for a winner. Murray's return of serve not up to his usual standard but even so, he seemed well ahead on unreturned serves, including a few aces and several forehand winners immediately after a big serve had opened up the court; probably the main reason why he took the set when Lu appeared to be dominating the rallies.
Stopped watching after the first game of the second set but I imagine the match continued in a similar pattern of Lu coming up with a few brilliant shots but not enough to cause Andy too much trouble.
Regarding indiana's questions about the score, Andy faced bps in his opening two service games and was 15-40 down when serving at 4-3 (I think) but he managed to hold serve throughout the opening set. I seem to recall Lu double faulting to gift Andy the set. Steven's post above feels right though it was late and I wasn't paying a huge amount of attention. There were quite a few challenges in the first set but I don't recall any being won; indeed they missed the line by a considerable margin.

The match stats show Lu winning no break points and Andy saving 5/5?
