This is the first of 3 Grade 1s in Asia with a strong British presence. Jonny O'Mara's first round opponent has a familiar name, and like his better known cousin Chris, is tall and has a big serve. Rhett Purcell came through qualification but Jamie Malik lost his final match.

There was a fine win for Alex over a top 40 player, but 'Gooch' mk 2 proved too hot for Jonny. Luke has teamed up with Borna Coric as top seeds in the doubles.

Mixed news, as the ITF have reversed Alex's score and Evan failed to reach his seeded position. However both Tom and Luke have reached round 3, though Luke had a scare.

Tom's best junior tournament should see him move into the top 100. He and Luke still contest both events, though their Aussie singles opponents are both in strong form here.

The Aussies were too strong, ending British interest in all ITF singles events this week, but Luke & partner became the sixth semi or fully British team to reach the doubles finals (including Mirabelle Njoze, who lost in Luxemburg, and Joel Cannell in Morocco)

David. There has been a reasonable amount of hype around Luke from the LTA and from local media, and of couse he enjoyed some well earned praise following the Junior Davis Cup win, where Kyle played a blinder all the way through.
Hes been lumped together with the Golding, Morgan, Edmund, Broady axis. But I was surprised to find that he's never been beyond the L16 at a grade A junior event, never beyond the SF at a grade 1, and has only actually won a single grade 2 event to date, and nothing below this. Wasnt expecting that at all.
Obviously he made QF this week, seeded 3, but lost fairly easily at that point. Have you seen him play. Should we be expecting more, or has the story got ahead of the facts in your opinion?
2 more big events in the nect 2 weeks I supposebfor him to give a sign that hes more than just a good player.

I've seen Luke play a few times in streamed junior matches, but wouldn't want to comment too much based on that. Luke was the highest ranked of the 1995s at the start of his second year of TE14 competition, but it was Evan (initially) and then Kyle who achieved the stronger results after that, with Luke finishing with a flourish by winning a couple of US under 14 events (including the Eddie Herr). I have also noticed that since the under 14s Luke has rarely converted his semifinals into finals and titles - the opposite to George Morgan for instance - and you really need some finals to scale the ATP rankings rapidly, given how skewed the ranking points are.
In terms of hype I think that has calmed to some extent, by comparison with Kyle, which may help him to develop his game with less spotlight
