Boys & Girls: 20th Slovak Junior Open - Grade 2 (Week 2)

We have a Grade 2 followed by a Grade 1 in the old Czechoslovakia with Katie Boulter expected to join Billy Harris and Callum Poland-Smith having withdrawn from the trip to Australia

Boys R1 (L64)

(13) Billy Harris (GBR) bye

(10) Callum Poland-Smith (GBR) bye

Perhaps someone should inform the LTA that Katie has withdrawn, since they published their guide to the Aussie Open only this morning (large banner and image on home page) which confirms her as one of just 3 entries on the girls side in the qualifiers. I thought the LTA would be in the loop as to the movements of their own performance players. Its not like there's a long list to check on, anf if she's in the Czech/Slovak republics for 2 weeks it can't be an overnight decision!! how hard can this be?

It's a regular problem with the LTA that they preview tournaments with inaccurate entry lists. I guess the person tasked with the juniors input did so last week when the information was correct, but they don't appear to have any system for further checking - you would have expected that a rudimentary check would have been made just before publication, though I can understand them not amending each time someone withdraws afterwards (as you indicate correctly elsewhere that Tom Hill has)

Katie has a nasty looking draw against a highly rated Russian, who shared 2 matches with Katy Dunne last year.

Boys R2

Oleg Kurbatov (RUS) v (13) Billy Harris (GBR)
Szymon Walkow (POL) v (10) Callum Poland-Smith (GBR)

Girls R1 (L32)

Katie Boulter (GBR) v (2) Anastasiya Komardina (RUS)

Distinct lack of updates on ITF so the only score I can find via TennisForum is:

Girls R1 (L32)

(2) Anastasiya Komardina (RUS) d. Katie Boulter (GBR) 6-4 6-2

Finally the ITF updates, but not with much joy for the Brits. Callum is the only one left - in the doubles semis

Boys R2

(13) Billy Harris (GBR) d. Oleg Kurbatov (RUS) 6-3 6-1
(10) Callum Poland-Smith (GBR) d. Szymon Walkow (POL) 6-2 1-6 6-3

R3

Kamil Gajewski (POL) d. (13) Billy Harris (GBR) 6-3 6-3
David Pichler (AUT) d. (10) Callum Poland-Smith (GBR) 6-4 6-2
