The ITF season ends this week with the prestigious Orange Bowl, won by George Morgan in 2010. Luke Bambridge should be seeded, joined by Jonny O'Mara and Evan Hoyt. Alex Sendegeya was top seed in qualifying but lost his opening match. Aswin Lizen is our only representative in the under 16s, where the top two seeds are ranked high enough to be in the under 18s main draw.

Would be great to see some kind of genuine breakthrough at a Grade A from one or more of these 1995 juniors (Kyle I'd put in a different bracket at this point). At this point, you feel they don't quite have the same potential as Kyle or perhaps Oli or Liam previously. I believe that Luke could end 2013 in the top 5 or 10 juniors, similar to his pre-decessors, but to do so he needs to start going much deeper in big tournaments. Not a bad draw for him, i suppose - shame none of it is streamed through.
Evan actually is drawn against a lower ranked player who he should be able to beat, judging from his recent record. Jonny appears to have the toughest assignment. Vasilenko beat him in straights in one of the Serbian Grade 2s where he reached the final

Mr Bambridge would face Mr Quinzi on clay in the 3rd round -- not quite what one would choose if looking for a breakthrough performance, though not impossible. Interesting that Mr Garin and Mr Osama would play in the 2nd round here (rather than the semis), if they each win their first-round match.

tweets from the boys manager indicating straight set wins for Luke and Evan, and a retirement/ withdrawal due to illness for Jonny. Not formally confirmed yet.
A tight loss for Luke but an embarrassingly one-sided affair for Evan. The boys (including Jonny) all survived their opening doubles matches with various partners

Rotten luck for Hoyt/Silva facing last week's doubles champions in the 2nd round. The Bambridge/McDonald defeat is more surprising though (a) one of the Americans is the lone non-seed through to the QFs in singles, so is clearly doing something right and (b) neither Mr Bambridge nor Mr McDonald seems to be enjoying this part of the season as much as they might have hoped.
